Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Review by BashyMcBashBash
"A Horribly flawed execution."
It's games like these that make me wonder WHY? I've played some terrible games in my life and this one isn't the worst but it certainly was terrible. I was expecting to see Gauntlet or anything better then this steaming pile of dog well, you know.
Graphics 2/10
Terrible sprites, you can sort of see the character its trying to be, then you see the backgrounds and your eyes fall out which isn't necessarily a BAD thing, it could be a good thing now you can't see the game. The backgrounds look bland and all the things look like the same thing with a different coat of paint. If you still managed to keep your eyes while playing it, you will encounter the enemies, well... the 2 repeating enemies you see over and over and over again, then the boss with a slightly different coat of paint like the background. I started to get headaches after 30 minutes of playing because of the mess they get in when they are all together. The only reason it got a 2 was that it has Thor in it, a very very disfigured Thor.
Audio 1/10
I am making a guess on the music because the punching sounds made me mute it so my ears would stop bleeding it is exactly the same story as the graphics, as Stan Lee would say "Nuff said"
Gameplay 2/10
I like beat em ups, this is a beat em up with RPG elements, maybe this will save the game! NOPE! At least with games like X-men Legends, or Marvel Ultimate Alliance on any other system, they made the fighting more interesting with the different powers, in this one all you do is punch and kick, OOOOOOOO innovation at its finest. I didn't notice much difference between all the characters attacks. I was really disappointed, the only good thing I can think of is that Ghostrider comes in on his bike. GO GHOSTRIDER!
Final Comments
If you are a fan of the franchise buy a PSP and get this game. Or an Xbox 360, avoid this game at all costs, I thought it would be fun, I was wrong and now I'm blind because of the terrible graphics. Activision should feel terrible for the omen they unleashed on our souls, they can make good games, this one, unfortunately, is on their list of games that they screwed up on terribly, and they should hang their heads in shame.
