Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town
Review by Komania
"Who says non-violent games aren't fun!"
Water the plants, milk the cow, feed the chickens
I bought Harvest Moon: More Friends Of Mineral Town with excitement, I've played A Wonderful Life and Save The Homeland and I was thrilled to find out that one of my favorite games of all time (apart from KH and KH II) were going portable... again. I played Friends Of Mineral Town before and I loved it. I guess I wanted to know the other half of the story. Even though it was almost exactly the same, it surpassed my expectations.
Gameplay 10/10:
The gameplay was pretty much the same as all the other Harvest Moon games. You raise a farm with healthy chickens, cows and sheep, you grow vegetables like corn, potatoes and peppers. You also make friends with the town and marry the man of your dreams. Most importantly, you have to make money to support your farm. It may not be blood-and-guts killing game or a super fast racing game, but it's very fun.
Graphics 10/10:
The graphics are very good considering that it's for GBA. The character portraits are very good. Which goes for the buildings too. The characters alone aren't bad at all and the livestock looks so cute :). The country side, south of your farm, is great too, and the top of Mother's Hill, stunning. Overall, the graphics are stunning.
Sound 9/10:
The sound is good. The music is catchy, but somewhat annoying after a while. The sound F-Xs are pretty good, I love it when cows moo, sheep baa, the dog barks, the chickens cluck, I think you get my point. The sounds you hear when you use tools aren't bad ether. There is only one flaw, the music can get very annoying and repetitive, so much that I wanted to smash my SP on the ground.
Story 10/10:
Story, what story? There is no story at all to the game. But, there are many events you can trigger by befriending/neglecting the townspeople. Some of which are HEART EVENTS. Heart events are events in which you need to witness in order to marry that person (there are also many other requirements).
There are 8 bachelors to chose from, each one likes different things and acts different. They all have hearts that change colour depending on weather they hate you, like you or love you. 3 of those 8 have invisible hearts so the only way you know if they love you or not is by the way they talk to you.
Controls 10/10:
No problems here, the controls rock.
Overall 10/10
Overall this game was amazing, probably the best GBA game I've ever played. So go buy it... NOW!!!
Pros and cons:
Pros:
+Unique and ever changing gameplay
+A wide variety of characters
+8 available bachelors
+Many different types of seeds and livestock
+You can have a PUPPY!!!
+Tons of events to keep this game fun for months
+Many upgrades for your house and farm building
Cons:
-Annoying and repetitive music
-Takes ages to marry someone unless you're rich and you spend 12 hours a day playing (if so, get a life).
