Medabots: Metabee Version
Review by rcbarrer
"This game is colorful, cute, and wonderful."
NOTE: This is my very first review.
The usual thing you see that is common is the use of robots in video games; it is so commonplace. Most games that use robots too much (like they are seen EVERYWHERE in the game) will never have a gleam, or even have a negative aura. However, a few of these kinds of games are gems that really shine! This game is one of them :)
For those of you not familiar with Medabots, it is an anime (I have never seen it myself) about the cute little Medabots. They are made of 4 Medaparts, a Tinpet, and of course, the Medal. Medabots are just like humans in emotions and feelings, and the Medaparts they have equipped bestow different actions too.
Story: 7
In this game, you play the character of Ikki Tenryou (He can be renamed at the beginning of the game). The story is ok, it is about the Rubberobos and Ikki and his friends trying to stop them. Unfortunetely, the story is not too planned out, so that's why I gave this a 7.
Control: 10
It is very easy to control yourself, but the controls cannot be changed. B to pause (You only use Start button for the title screen and Rubberobo Medals), A to select things, and more. This game is easy to control.
Gameplay: 9
The Medabots are VERY customizable, a huge plus in this game. You customize so many things on them that I couldn't fit the explination here; there are a total of a WHOPPING 480 Medaparts (Some share their actions)! The game plays like a strategy game, 3-on-3 Medabot battles called Robattles. The Medabots can perform their actions here!
Characters: 9
Many of the characters in this game are from the anime. In you have watched the anime before you should recognize most of them.
Music: 8
The music is fine, but some musics are reused OVER and OVER and OVER again! That is a minus.
Overall: 9
This is one of the best games for the GBA. Just about everything blends in excellently. The amazing use of the common robot was a shocker!
Note that there are 2 versions of this game: There is a Metabee and a Rokusho one.
If you're a fan of the Medabots anime, get the Metabee version (or both if you can) since Ikki had Metabee in the anime; it might be appealing. Otherwhise you're best getting both versions!
