"Difficult is the right word to describe this game"

It's a fact that there are many Yu-gi-oh games, but none of the previous released games is like this one… is that good or bad? You will see.

Story: 7/10
The story is simple and is not too elaborated, but anyway, it is still interesting. Basically, you will have to defeat strong opponents to get the powerful Millennium Items, restore the sacred cards, who have been turned to stone and save the world from an all powerful being.

Graphics: 8.5/10
This game as the same graphics used in “Yu-gi-oh: The Sacred Cards”, so you could expect good graphics, but not with much depth. Anyway, if you ever think about buying this game, it will not be because the graphics so don't bother too much thinking about them.

Sound: 5/10
The music of this game is not bad, but isn't good too. In my opinion, the music won't annoy anyone, but it will not contribute to turn this game better. The music is okay, but you may want to turn it off.

Gameplay: 3.5/10
The gameplay of this game is a bit different from the other Yu-gi-oh games. This game is similar to the Sacred Cards game, but it's much harder. First of all, your deck is full of weak monsters and magic cards, so don't expect much from it. In other Yu-gi-oh games you would quickly find some new cards and change your deck as soon as possible, but in this game, that isn't going to happen, at least, not so quickly.

First of all, you will win only one card when you defeat a duelist. Second of all, the cards you can buy in the shop are really expensive. You will need to beat at least twenty duelists to be able to buy a single card and that is only possible if the duelists you beat gives you good money or you will have to beat some more. Third of all, to be able to put the cards on your deck, you will need to increase your deck capacity. To do that, you will need to beat duelists. When you beat them for the first time, you win three points to increase your deck, but after that, they will give you just one point. And since the stronger cards need at least a hundred points to be put in your deck… you will have to win a hundred duels to be able to put a single card in your deck.

So, as you have read, it's not easy to modify your deck. The problem is, the other duelists become much stronger as the story progresses and since it's so hard to turn your deck into a stronger deck, you will have a hard time beating your opponents. Another thing that is important and you should not forget is that, in this game, your life points are not restored after battle. You will have to go to the hero's house to restore your life points. This is quite annoying when you have to battle two or three duelists in a row.

Another annoying thing in the game is the elements rule. Water beats fire, earth beats thunder, etc. With this rule, even the weakest monster could beat the strongest monster, if the weakest monster element beats the strongest monster element. It annoys me a lot, when a powerful monster, that took two sacrifices to summon, is beaten by a weak monster, just because of the elements rule. One example is the Blue Eyes White Dragon. Since it is from the light element, monsters from the dark element, like the weak Kuriboh, could beat it with a single strike. In summary, if this game gave us more opportunity to remodel our deck and conquer our enemies more easily, it would be more fun for us, so the game would be better.

Play Time/ Replayability: 2/10
Since it is so hard to advance in the game and build a good deck, it's highly improbable that you will erase your saved data (you can only have one save data) and lose your precious cards, just to start again from scratch and lose hours trying to beat duelists. This game can last for hours and hours, but in this case, that is not a good thing.

Overall 5.2/10
From all the Yu-gi-oh games that have been released so far, this is the only one that disappointed me. It could have been much better, like the Sacred Cards game was. If you are a true fan of the Yu-gi-oh games and have a lot of patience, maybe you will like this game, but my suggestion is that you buy another of the Yu-gi-oh games, because they are much better than this.
