Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team
Review by Krensada
"Everything a pokemon fan could want."
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: red rescue team is a dungeon crawler type RPG. The Dungeons consist of randomly generated, multi-leveled floors. Random item pick ups, and random enemies of varying levels. If you think this is all there is to the game play you would be correct. There are three different missions you go on into these dungeons.
Save the Pokemon, Bring the Pokemon an item or escort a Pokemon to another Pokemon.
There is an occasional boss but other than that, it is all you do. But I will say that this does make the game a great boredom buster! You will have many things to do in this game for hours.
Right now I'm going to give you my pet peeves about this game. Which are highly outweighed by how much this game rocks.
Story:
Downside:
Every once in awhile there will be snags in this story. Things that just don't make sense.
For example: Rescue team just isn't the title for what these Pokemon do. They do anything from saving fellow Pokemon to hunting down criminals, which makes them more mercenaries doing freelance work more than anything.
Upside:
You are not a trainer on a mission to become a Pokemon master yada, yada, yada ad nauseum. This is a plot that has been used in every normal Pokemon game, so this story is a refreshing and much welcome difference from the normal crud.
Now I will talk about the controls:
The controls are easy to master. Start and select are not used hardly at all for this game. Instead all the functions were put into just the A and B buttons which I think is better and more simplified. Saving your game, linking moves, which if you could do move linking in normal Pokemon games you would hurt your enemy badly. The move linking is so good it's almost unfair.
Music:
The music in this game was absolutely wonderful. Almost every dungeon had its own musical score and multiple situations had different music to express the mood of the situation. The sound effects were well made also, from smashing a bad guy to using an item to the talking drone.
Conclusion:
I recommend this game to anyone who likes RPG video games. And I highly recommend this game if you like Pokemon like I do. And, as I said, this game has everything a Pokemon fan could want.
