Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town

Review by monkeygirl82

"Wow. Just wow."

Introduction

This game is basically Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, except you are a girl. If you haven't played Friends of Mineral Town, it's a fun game with the traditional Harvest Moon plot: You move to a run down farm in hopes of rebuilding it and having a perfect life. There are a few differences between Friends of Mineral Town and More Friends of Mineral Town. To name a few: you are a girl, there are more marriage choices, and there are less bugs and glitches. Read on to see what I think of this game.

Gameplay- 9/10

This game has great gameplay. It is very fun, and I find it addicting for many reasons; one being it's numerous tasks to complete. The controls are very good, though they can be difficult to remember at times. For instance, there are at least 4 different “L” button combinations that can be mixed up easily. You will get the hang of it eventually. This game can be easy or very difficult, depending on what you want to accomplish. If you want to have a totally complete game, I think it would be very, very hard. The only way I can think of considering this game “easy” is if you did absolutely nothing all day, every day. But that wouldn't be very fun, would it?

Story- 9/10

There is no particular story like in previous Harvest Moon titles, but it is the same basic thing. You are unhappy with your current way of life; working at a monotonous job, coming home to your small apartment, then doing it all over the next day. You find an ad for a farm for sale that you can afford. You immediately quit your job and move out. When you get to your new farm, you find a run down barn and a torn up field. You decide to try to rebuild this tattered place into a quality farm. Good luck with that.

Graphics/Sound- 10/10

I must say that this game's graphics and sound are remarkable for the system. Well, the graphics are maybe average, but I think it's so cool how your character's hair is shiny and bounces when you run. Maybe I'm just weird. But the sound! Oh my gosh, I love the music that plays in town during the day. It's so catchy, and I could listen to it for hours. The rainy days background music is sort of depressing, but it still sounds just like rain. You can get an option to change background music on your farm, but I think it's alright the way it is in the beginning.

Playtime/Replayability- 10/10

This game has a very long playtime; the game never ends! You can farm for hundreds of years, and there are rewards for playing certain amounts of time. Once you complete some of the major goals of the game, you might get tired of it, but I've played for a while and I've not gotten bored yet. As for replayability, you get two save spots so you can keep two games. Once you get bored of one file, you can restart on the other and try different things. There are quite a few ways to play through this game, so restarting is just as fun (if not more) as the first playthrough.

Final Recommendation

I say that this game is worth every penny. Hunt this game down. It'll be worth it. If you want to know if you should rent it or buy it, you should just buy it. If you've never played a Harvest Moon game, you should probably rent it first to see if it's your kind of game. If you got it as a gift, do not return it. Keep it, and you'll be very, very glad.

Overall Score- 9/10

I give this game a nine out of ten instead of a perfect ten because I think that it's not quite perfect. It's more of a 9.5, but I don't know what it's missing. I can't think of what to add or take away... It seems perfect, but I'm not sure.

Thank you for reading my review!
