Donkey Kong Country
Review by gamelunatic
"DKC is back, and it's even better than ever"
Quite a few years ago, a game was released for the Super Nintendo named Donkey Kong Country. The game involved you playing through all types of levels, including in the jungle, in the forest, in the mountains and even on a pirate ship. As the game's popularity grew and sequels were released, it became one of Nintendo's most recognized characters. This game is a remake of the sensational game that started it all.
Graphics: 10/10
If you remembered the graphics of this game when it was released for the SNES, you'll instantly feel some nostalgia when you turn on the game. The graphics are smooth and crisp, the backgrounds are detailed, and the animation of the characters is just right. No problems here.
Control: 10/10
The controls work just fine for this game. A is jump, holding B allows you to run, and the left and right control keys determine where you go. You should quickly feel comfortable with the controls after a level or two.
Sound: 10/10
The music is the same as it was on the Super Nintendo console. For you purists out there, nothing has been changed- the music matches the level and the other sounds also remain the same.
Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is even better than it was when it was first released back in 1994. In this version of the game, you can save after every level, whereas you had to beat a few levels at a time before. If you feel that this takes away from the difficulty of the game, then just save after every few levels. As many of the other remakes of games have, there are new features. You can play fishing and dancing mini games as well as play a time attack for each level that rewards you with a grade depending on speed and points scored- S,A,B,C,D, and F.
Replay value: 10/10
Even after you beat the game, it should keep you busy trying to get high scores and playing mini games. I've had this game for five months and have played it at least a few times a week.
Buy/Rent: BUY! When it comes to remakes of games, this is among the best. It's no reason the GBA is the top selling system of all time-think Mario, Sonic, DK, Pokemon, Metroid, Kirby, F-Zero, and Earthworm Jim. If you're looking to have fun at home or on the road, the GBA is just what you need..
