Danny Phantom Urban Jungle
Review by infernape612
"Ouch."
Danny Phantom: Urban Jungle is probably for the younger kids in the gaming world. I can understand that. But there are some hardcore gamers who like Danny Phantom too. They want a decent game out of Nickelodeon. Urban Jungle did not fit the bill. Period. There are plenty of reasons not to like this game. I bet the DS version is better, but this is for the GBA version. And the GBA game stunk worse than a Skuntank who hasn't taken a shower in years.
Gameplay: 0/10
The controls are decent enough, I suppose. But how could you make a control that makes you invincible?! The R button switches the color Danny is outlined in between pink and blue. The color attack that matches Danny does nothing. It makes the game way too easy. A mediocre player could go through every level with no damage! That is way too easy for hardcore gamers like myself.
Story: 2/10
The story is pretty stupid. An overgrown plant takes over Amity Square and turns it into an urban jungle, hence the title. Not cool, Nick. Danny stops him. Big deal. There are plenty of games with a better storyline than this. Mario and Pokemon storylines are better! (Even if they are getting a little old.) Those have long stories. Long! Urban Jungle has only 6 levels. That is way too short.
Graphics/Sound: 6/10
OK, the game doesn't totally blow here. The graphics are pretty good for a GBA game, and the sound won't make you buy earplugs. I'm not gonna go any further on this. There are plenty of games with worse, I'm sure.
Playtime: 0/10
Like I said in the Story section, 6 levels. 6 relatively short levels. You could beat this game in an hour! I would have done it the first time around, but I had to go to bed and finish it off the next day. Nickelodeon could have put way more levels in here, I mean it.
Replayability: 7/10
The game offers a little something in this department. It's sort of a small challenge to capture all of the ghosts, and I still can't beat the boss endurance mode. The bosses are easy on their own, but doing every one of them with little health... Nickelodeon did good enough with the post-ending stuff. I'll give them credit.
Final Score: 3/10
Danny Phantom: Urban Jungle offers a small incentive to play after beating it once. The 7-year old intended audience will be content. But if you're actually after a fun and challenging game, this is not the choice of wisdom. Rent a copy if you must. If you get it as a gift, it's worth keeping. But blowing your hard-earned cash on this game is not a very wise idea.
