Mega Man Battle Network

"Mega Man, in an RPG? I didn't believe it either until I played this masterpiece."

When I first heard of this game, I said, ''Aww, this game is truly going to suck.'' And I was very wrong. This game is awesome. I really only play RPG's, OK, I only play RPG's, but I have always been a fan of the Mega Man/Rockman series, and when it came out, I had to get it. After seeing pictures, I was a little skeptical about it, I thought the battle system looked terrible, I thought it was going to be boring, and I thought it was going to be one of the few games that wasn't going to make it to America, but all those ''ideas'' about the game changed about five minutes into the game.

Graphics 10

The graphics are very good, to me they are the second best, next to Breath of Fire Advance, but they are still excellent. The detail in everything is so good. In your house there is a flat screen TV on the wall and there are little commercials playing on it, that is really cool. The character design is very good. For some reason, everything about the game, except the characters, look like Mother 2 (Earthbound).

Sound 9

The Sound is very clear, it is a little fuzzy when you don't have any headphones in, but when you are wearing headphones, the sound is very good. The only thing that I thought it was lacking were little grunts and stuff when you get hit in battle. If those sounds were in the game, and the music was a little better, it would have received a ten.

Gameplay 10

This game is very easy to get into, and the controls are very easy to figure out. Even if you don't know Japanese, I think it would be easy to figure out. I know Japanese, so there is no problem there. Finally the battle system, the battle system is pretty fun, it is real time and it is really easy to understand. In the beginning of the battle, you choose a special attack and you can use that, or use your buster gun. At the top of the battle screen there is a bar, when that bar fills up, you get to choose a new special attack, it takes about ten seconds to fill up, anyhow, the gameplay is top notch.

Story 9

The story is pretty out there, you are a boy and you have a PET, not animal, in your case it is Rockman and you are in the game to keep peace between the real world and cyber world. In the game you go into computers and other electrical appliances and defeat bad guys and stuff. In the real world, you are a boy, in the cyber world, you play as Rockman. Overall the story is awesome.

This game is awesome, it should be easy for non Japanese speakers to figure out, I have seen a couple FAQ's, and walk through's online, which are pretty accurate. The game doesn't come out in English until October 15, 2001 so that is a few months away...at least when this review comes out. I personally think you should get the import if you see it, very, very good. Get it.
