Mario Kart Super Circuit
Review by Alpha99
"The BEST game on GBA!!!"
Mario Kart: Super Circuit, is the BEST GBA game yet... It contains everything that you could want from a Mario Kart game.
Graphics(10/10):
The graphics are amazing, I thought since I've played THPS2 on GBA, that I'd seen the best graphics on GBA but I was wrong, these are the BEST and most colorful graphics on GBA. The best thing about the game is that is it's bright contrast. The Mode 7 effect is awesome and the paralax scrolling back ground layers give the graphics a real 3-D feel. The racer graphics are solid and scale and rotate fluently. The track graphics are nice. The menus are solid and easy to look at.
Gameplay(10/10):
Super Circuit's game play is classic Mario Kart, you collect coins to make you go faster, race the circuits for points and cups, and battle it out in battle mode. The core of the game is again the Mario GP, each cup has 4 races and if you get enough points at the end you win the cup. In Super Circuit you are also ranked by how well you do in the current cup, collecting lots of coins, getting fast times, winning every race, are all criteria for the ranking system. If you do well enough on all the circuits you may discover some cool tracks. I'm talking about all 20 of the original SNES Super Mario Kart tracks! So you have some incentive to play the cups over. The 20 new Super Circuit tracks are well designed and fit perfectly in the mario kart world. The other modes include the ever popular Time Trial mode, which can save ghost replays for 10 or the 40 tracks. You can also download a friend's ghost data from his/her game via link cable, and the game can hold 2 of these. You also have a quick run mode in which you can run one quick race on a track and at a skill of you choosing. I haven't tried muli-player yet, but if it's any thing like the other mario kart multiplayer games, then it will be a blast! Super Circuit is enhanced by it's 40 tracks, and great play control(I wish you could change the controls, there good, but I should be able to change then any way).
Sound and Music(10/10):
Super Circuit has great sound effect, voices of the characters sound clear and sharp, the kart sound are good as well. The other sound are good too. This game does not slump in the sound department. The music is great, the songs are mario-ish, and catchy. The classic music from the SNES tracks will make you remember the good old days, the best thing about this is that it has been redone and sound better than ever! Since the music is so good you'll want to use headphones for the best quality
Pros: Portable Mario Kart, SNES TRACKS!!!!, 40 Tracks, Great Music, Classic Kart Gameplay!
Cons: AI seems to cheat!, Can't change controls, have to
unlock the SNES tracks in 150cc to do time trials on them!
Overall(10/10):
If your a fan of Mario Kart or even if your not, if you own a GBA you owe it to yourself to pick up this game right away. This is a game that should not be missed!
