Iridion 3D
Review by Joseph Mostarda
"It's pretty good... I liked it, anyway."
Flashback to August 2000. In Japan, Spaceworld 2000 happened. It was there that Nintendo unveiled GBA and 10 games- one of them Iridion 3D...
Some people say the game is terrible, but I thought it was actually well done...
Graphics 10/10- The game's strong point. (I've never heard of Shin'en, but apperantely, they can make real good graphics.) Except for Super Circuit (an awesome game), no other GBA game has graphics this good. Detailed enemies and lush, colorful backgrounds help make this game the best looking launch title. I actually got 2 game overs just staring at the beautiful graphics. I mean, they are really something. All in all, the graphics k-i-c-k b-u-t-t.
Story 4/10- The short story at the start of the game had no words, so it's a bit hard to understand.(No, Duh!)Something like a UFO filled with Iridion soldiers invade Earth, and you must fly your ship through seven areas. I also saw like a sailor dude or something, maybe he helps in the upcoming Iridion 2 or some other game. All in all, the story s-u-c-k-s.
Gameplay 6/10- The controls are relatively easy to learn, but where are the bombs? Where are the bonus levels and shortcuts? Besides that, though, the game isn't too hard. Get through corrider mode, get to boss, shoot at its center, watch it die, advance. Repeat. I didn't find the game too hard, like I said, but it's too repetitive. Shin'en could've put at least one bonus level in the game, or made the bosses a bit tougher. All in all, the gameplay is o-k-a-y.
Multiplayer 10/10- Just joking. There is no multiplayer. Big Mistake #1. All in all, the multiplayer (where is it?) s-h-o-u-l-d h-a-v-e b-e-e-n i-n t-h-e g-a-m-e!!!!! (It really needed a multiplayer mode. Badly)
Satisfaction 7/10- You'll love the game, or you'll get a hammer. Of course, if you really didn't like the game, sell it to a pawn shop and make some money. Personally, when you beat the game, I think it's rather satisfying. All in all, the satisfaction is o-k-a-y.
Verdict- Rent the game, then buy it. Or rent the game, then get Mario Kart: Super Circuit. At least Super Circuit has more items. Seriously, I think the game deserves a chance, because it's really not that bad. So either rent or buy it today! (Seriously, just check out the game, then buy it or sell it to your little brother for $50.)
