Play Novel: Silent Hill

Review by SolidSam

"Not JUST another game"

This ame is an original Konami game for the Gameboy advance.
it doesn't come with many features. The main part of the game is reading the storyline. The game takes you thorugh Harry's experiences through Silent hill and the battles he fights. After completing the game you should go through the game with Cybil (the cop). To get the full point of Silent Hill you must Understand Cybil's perspective of silent Hill. You'll learn how she get's to silent hill, and how she meets harry in various points. This game is quite good with it's puzzles from time to time. I have the Japanese version, I cannot understand one bit of it. But the sounds and pictures are there and help greatly to understand. The game is a good quality reading game. After completing the game you'll recieve CARDS which are pictures from different points in the game. They can be a boss, or a puzzle or an area in the game. The cards are randomized so you won't get the same ones for completing the game 1 time, forgetting to load and finishing it again. The game itself is VERY original. I just hope I can get the English version of it to understand better.
If you buy this, don't expect to play it in a month or so, as the replay value is VERY low. It's quite an educational game with all the reading. It is best to borrow the game rather than actually Buying it because you'll feel you've been ripped off for something of such small package.
Another great thing about this game is that YOU CAN'T DIE. That's the main reason most little kids don't play horror games, and that's the fear of dying. I finished the Playstation version of Silent Hill when I was in yr 4 or 5. Certainly it was great finishing it, but then the disturbing pictures can sometimes get to you. After finishing the game you'll learn there is a much better detailed storyline than the playstation version, as a LOT of work can be put into the script (the main part of the game).
For players who can't read Japanese, it's highly recommended that you just scroll through and look at all the pretty pictures. However, if you've played Silent Hill you'll know what's mainly going on! When Harry's first encounter with a boss,he shoots it in the mouth, now with experience from the Playstation version Of Silent Hill we know where he gets the idea, and WHY. It's better to get the enlgish version if it comes out (hopefully it will), because you won't be in a happy mood when you finish this game by pressing A or B till the end in about 3 or less hours. The puzzles are also nothing like the ones in the Playstation version. They are different. But some puzzles are just impossible to do without english! Others are very obvious.
The game isn't HARD at all, it merely gives Silent Hill more details and gets the player to now more of the town itself.
The graphics are of the gameboy Advance standards, some pictures are done extremely well. The sound is also good, with the shooting and the freaky aspects of the game. The gameplay is a one button feature mainly. The Puzzle are sometimes straight forward, there is also a VERY HARD mixxing puzzle where the player has no idea what to do.
The replay value is LOW LOW LOW LOW. That is where the game lacks good ratings.
Overall it deserves a 6. The game is original, but it's likeley you won't play it more than 2 or 3 times.
