Bomberman Tournament

"Not just your everyday Bomberman..."

Ah...who couldn't forget the Bomberman series...it had almost taken over half of the world ^_^ That's why it's so attractive. The plot is pretty much the same, this bomberman bombs this and that bomberman bombs that and then everythings get blown up and everyone dies and you proceed to the next level. Yea, so you probably have a wild guess of what the next game will look like...right?

WRONG!!!

Bomberman Tournament is simply one of the best bomberman titles. There's still that 'bomb this bomb that' part, but they've add lots of distractions to the game. Even though lots of the distractions were copied from other gaming titles.

For example, raising ''Karabons'' so you could use them to fight with other trainers?

One simple word. Pokemon.

And, budging into people's house to collect items and stuff?

One simple word. Zelda.

Okay, so may be Bomberman Tournament has a little of Zelda or a little of Pokemon, but that doesn't really matter! I enjoy the new RPG style of Bomberman! It's so unique...it seems like I'm playing a Pokemon version of Zelda, only with our famous hero of all time, Bomberman!!! That's right, you hear me! Pikachu ain't going to hog the spotlight anymore! It's Bomberman!!!

Okay, here's the review:

Story: 7/10
Max had been investigating a land, but during his investigation, he had been kidnapped. Now the general wants ''Bomberman'' to continue Max's investigation and find Max. And so he did...yes, just like the old heroic Bomberman. The story of course, is very ''Bomberman-ish''...just like all the oh-so-100 other Bomberman stories.

Music/Sound: 6/10
The music aren't the best music in the whole world. It's not really a pain in the ears, but it's just that, it doesn't grab your attention, it's not really catchy. And as for the sound, the classical bombing sounds, need to say more?

Gameplay: 9/10
There are 2 modes in this game. Each of them is fun in their own and unique way.

Quest~ This is the mode where you get to find Max. It's also the mode where you get to raise those Pokemon wannabes and play as a Zelda version of Bomberman. But hey, it's not THAT bad, I'm not whining! I actually like it! If you didn't notice, the RPG version of Bomberman shows us how fun ''Bomberman'' actually is. It's more than just a 'bomb bomb' thing, this Bomberman Tournament shows us how fun bombing could really be.

Battle~ Oh! I love this mode! Up to four players, either by human players or computer, will have to try to set bombs to defeat each other. And the remaining survivors win a trophy. And when you win, you get to play a mini-game of fishing! There are also lots of items for you to collect. From the power glove to the kick bomb thingy. They are all the possible items to help you defeat the other bombermans. If you are a previous SNES player, you will notice this battle mode is very similar to another Bomberman game on the SNES version. Proofs us that Bomberman is fun no matter how old and creative the idea is.

Replay: 9/10
Let me get this right...you can play this game forever! ^_^ Heh~ But that's only for the battle mode. You can't get bored of the battle mode, after all, it's just sooooo fun. But as for the quest mode, unless you are extremely bored, you won't want to play the game all over again after you beat it. So if it weren't for that, I would give this game a 10. Unfortuanately, there's that little flaw, so I give it a 9.

Graphics: 7/10
Very nice colorful/colourful graphics, first of all. And everything is, well...detailed. But they are just simply some SNES material, not that it's that bad, but I expected more...heh~ Okay, may be I'm pushing the standards too much, but I thought Bomberman should have more better graphics. But hey, you don't see me whining about it...well, at least not much.

Controls: 10/10
Simple. The A button allows you to set bombs. While the B button allows you to use special powers from the Karabon. It's so easy that even a 3 year old can learn it. Nothing fancy, just straight forward. Just like the way most games SHOULD be made.

To Buy Or To Rent: Duh! Buy it!
Okay, I know a lot of people who simply LOVE THIS GAME! And I know some people who thought this game was a Zelda and Pokemon wannabe. But really, look at it with more depth and you'll love it! Bomberman is cool! So buy it! Unless you are doubting me, you could always rent it to check it out. But trust me, buying it is worth the money!

Oh! It's so close to a rating of 10. But I just have to give it a 9. Because of the ''Quest'' mode, it simply pales in comparison when compared to ''Battle'' mode.

Well, I know some says that We don't need another Pokemon or Zelda title. But what the heck, Bomberman is a great game, don't let what little comments like that fear you. Trust me, it will be worth your time, your money and your...well everything!

Because Bomberman is da bomb! :) (Sorry I just have to say that...)
