The Real grand daddy of FPS is back once again! (No wolfenstein does not count!) This is the bad boy that started the craze so lets see whats new over here!

Graphics- 7
For GOD's sake is this a remarkable game! Smooth framerate and decent textures definitely score it well! But the big but to go along with these smoking visuals, is the fact that far away monsters are VERY indistinct! I hope y'all remember where them sonsofbitches are because it sucks to get tagged from a five pixel monster! Of course you cannot expect too much from the GBA but damnit that bothers the hell out of me. No you won't think you are playing the PC version, but then again what version of Doom was as good as the PC? (No the playstation one sucked too!) As good as it gets on a hand held but still lacking.

Gameplay- 8
Its a GBA. it has 4 buttons. One directional pad. Plays fine for a console and won't present any major issues. If you are one of those that always cries about the control of FPS on console systems then this won't change your mind. I like it!

Sound-5
If you play doom for the rocking soundtrack then I cry for the future. I swear to God. Sound effects work. Shotgun always sounds nice but other wise who really cares?

What is with people these days getting all huffy over having to one multiple copies of the game to play multiplayer huh? sure it would be nice but I wouldn't call it a detracting factor. People don't bitch that not every game lets you customize the main character right? Anyway the standard bells and whistles (new game, load, volume, brightness and all that jazz) are here and adequate.
Do you like Doom? If you didn't like it then (crazy ass lunatic you!) then you won't like it now. If you love it then you love it. If you never played or are only 'kinda' into doom, i suggest you rent and see how you like the feel.

A great conversion given the limitations of the console, but Doom is dated. It's always good to run thru a few levels and deal some much deserved death to demon hellspawn but in the end, I only felt kinda satisfied and not particularly drawn to the game. Yeah, yeah its doom, and if you are fanatical about it then you will love it but otherwise its a fine game and not much more.
