Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review by MarioKartDriver
"Enough to satisfy Harry Potter fans"
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone from EA Games is based on the upcoming movie from Warner Bros. The game will appear on PlayStation, PC, GBC and GBA. The game remains very faithful to the book it's based on. It's just like an interactive Hogwarts which you yourself can enroll in and live the magic. Here is a list of some of the things you'll expect in this game.
-Attend classes like Potions, Transfiguration and Defense against the Dark Arts
-Meet over 20 different characters from the book such as Hermione Granger, Ron Weasly, Albus Dumbledore and Rubeus Hagrid
-Take and play Quidditch classes and matches on your Nimbus 2000
-Explore Hogwarts and it's grounds such as Hagrid's hut and the Forbidden Forest
-Exactly follows the original storyline
-Learn lots of powerful spells so you can go one-on-one with ''You know Who''!
The graphics are on par with the GBA's graphics, instead of that yucky, GBC-like graphics it use to have. The sprites of the structures and characters look exactly like the actors who play them in the movie. The cut-scenes are also pretty amazing and includes speech.
The gameplay is quite a variety. You play as Harry Potter and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The game features many different kinds of classes such as Defense Against the Dark Arts and Potions. After each lesson, you'll be put in a challenge like collecting Professor Snape's special potion ingredients or golden stars. There is also a Quidditch class where you will learn how to fall, accomplish Quidditch challenges and play an actual game. You'll also have to get back Neville's Remembrall from that nasty Draco Malfoy.
The sound and music are a basic kind of Game Boy music. It kind of sets the mood of the book and adds mystery to the storyline. But really nothing that special. The music is also taken from the movie.
It’s a pretty lengthy adventure, about 10 hours at the most. It’s not that long but enough to please fans of the book but some people might be disappointed.
Overall, the game really let's you jump from the Muggle world to the Wizard world and remain very faithful to the book and movie it's based on.
