Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Revival
Review by TheMisfit
"Street Fighter In My Pocket ...nice !"
I have been a Street Fighter kid since the beginning, Playing it at the arcades (even had my own for a while later on). Then it was ported to Super Nintendo. This was a disappointment because I had a Sega Genesis and at the time I wasn't old enough to get a job to buy a SNES plus the game with sold for 69.99 at the time. So I had to feed my Street Fighter habit by still playing it at the arcades or going to my friends house to play it (the lucky bastard). Then SNES got a port of Street Fighter II Turbo. Still I had only the Genesis which was still Street Fighter-less. Finally Super Street Fighter II Turbo came out featuring 4 new fighters! Plus it was coming to the Genesis and SNES! I quickly made my dad get it for me (it was like an early birthday present even though my birthday was months away, plus I had to do yard work for a while... I think I'm still working for this game). It was cool.
Anyway on with the review...
Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival:
Value- 10/10
This game plays and looks just as I remembered it - Great.
I brought back lots of memories plus gave new ones...
cheesy I know
Graphics- 9/10
The graphics are great, very colorful and clear. Though not as great as the arcade, but damn close. I'll admit, my jaw dropped at the high resoultion art work in the game, very nice touch Capcom.
Control- 10/10
I thought this game was going to be hard to play on Game Boy Advance, but it plays really well even if it only has four buttons. You can set the buttons to do the attack levels you want (which is saved by the built-in battery pack), and also set them to pressure control, meaning, tap the button for medium kick or press it harder for hard kick. You can also press select while fighting to perform the special moves easier, which saves wearing out the digital pad on the GameBoy, another nice touch.
Sound- 8/10
The music is a bit lower quality than other street fighter games, but it is still the classic street fighter music, which is good. On the positive side, the voices still sound clear and authentic from the arcade.
Replay Value- 8/10
With 16 characters to play and see there individual endings. Plus a sercret character and extra play modes to unlock- like Survival, Time Attack and Gallery. This should give a Street Fighter fan some time to kill.
Games Problems-
From the rumors, there is a bug in the game which prevents you from fighting the secret boss AKUMA. If you are good enough to get to AKUMA, the game freezes and it messes up your saved scores. A slight problem for the extreme hardcore Street Fighter fans. Plus the back of the box says it has a Mission, Team Battle and Character Edit Mode. These modes are not in the game. But a Mode not mentioned on the box but IS in the game is Survival. Survival is fun and makes up for the lost modes, in my opinion.
Overal- get this game if you like Street Figher
