Breath of Fire
Review by Aragorn Of Gondor
"This is a spectacular re-done version, with a few minor flaws"
First off, this game was released in 1994 for the SNES, if you all who are reading this do not know. It is the first of the series called breath of fire, there are curently 4 of them on all different platforms. This happens to be one of my all time favorite RPG'S , EVER. That's hard because there's a lot of RPG''S out there. This is a simplistic, fun, lengthy RPG that brings out what an RPG is all about.
Graphics: 9/10: Well, let's see, it doesn't look much different from the SNES version, i've seen NO new enviroments, like SNOW, or RAIN, or clouds, etc. I did notice all of the Portraits are very different, and the menu's and the intro. screen for the game, which is great, because it looks a little more like BOFII which looks better! The graphics are simple, not overdone and nice. You'll be trapped in another world when you play this game.
Sound:6/10 : The sound is good, the music is nicely orchetsrated in some area's but overall, sounds the same from the SNES. It just doesn't seem very different, i thought that capcom would have made a lot more CHANGES to the game, graphically , sound-wise and gameplay wise. The changes that WERE made aren't that significant. You can still make great changes to a game and have the same nostalgia.
Gameplay:10/10: The story hasn't been changed a bit which is good. The translation is so much better than the SNES version. The actual story feels the same and that is good! This is a great RPG for people who appreciate the actual rewards of videogames. This offers a wonderful nostalgic story, decent graphics and nice sound to give you a out of this world experience.
Overall: 9/10 This game has been redone, because so many people appreciate the way the game plays, now that it can be played in the palm of your hand, it feels even better than sitting on your bed playing it. The new SAVE ANYWHERE feature is also very convient for people who like to savor the flavor of the game, and not zoom through it, like myself. The graphics are lush in some areas, and mediocre in others, but overall it transports you somewhere else other than your living room! The sound could have sounded more crisp and clean, but it still is decent. The story , well you all read that above, it's just great!! So STEP INTO THE SCORCHING FLAME>> AND FEEL THE BURN OF A BREATH OF FIRE!!!!!
