Super Street Fighter II: Turbo Revival
Review by Ryan Rider
"Akuma! Akuma! I want to fight Akuma!"
Gameplay: 7.5/10
The most realistic fighting game on a portable system. They promised an adventure mode and all sorts of stuff yet once it finally came out, there were a limited amount of features. Yet it's still fun none-the-less. In arcade mode, you fight your way to the top. You can train in training mode, or with using a Link Cable you can play against friends in V.S. mode. You can play the limitless ''Survival'' mode, or challenge the clock in Time Attack. The controls are quite basic: Control Pad to walk and jump with the L Button, R Button, A Button, and B Button to do moves/special moves/combos. It's quite fun except that there are several bad things: The point limit and the Akuma glitch. The Akuma glitch is a glitch that if you get to Akuma in Arcade mode(hard to find), your game will screw up and will not be able to save. Capcom did not want to make a press release on this as they say that only 4% of people will even realize the glitch! What a shame. As for the point limit: you get Akuma if you get 500 points, and you get Super Akuma when you have 10000 points(9999 to be exact). I personally have gotten 9999 points so there really is not much point in playing anymore. More on that in the ''Replayability'' section of this review. As for How fun is this game, it's quite fun but it gets boring after awhile and could have been better.
Audio/Video: 8/10
The graphics are quite average. It's practically taken from the Super Nintendo Street Fighter games with a bit of extras. But that isn't a bad thing, it's a good thing! Because Super NES graphics are quite good for a portable system! The music is annoying and does distract me as it is not too good for this game. I usually, just like almost any GBA game, shut the music off while playing!
Replayability: 5.5/10
I was obsessed with this game when I first got it. Everybody wanted to try it and I couldn't stop playing it either. I wanted to get Akuma and Super Akuma! Once I finally got them both, you aren't allowed to get any more points. What is the point of playing a very repetitive Arcade mode if you can't even get more points?! What is up with that?
Overall: 7/10:
I suggest that if you are a fan of Street Fighter games then you should buy this game, but it is always better to rent a game first to see if you like it. Otherwise, I suggest that you wait for Street Fighter Alpha which is coming out sooner than you think. This game is a good game, but it isn't a great one. That is due mostly because of limited features and glitches. There is a long list of game testers at the end, boy did they do a good job! Not. End of Review. Goodbye.
