Lego Bionicle
Review by ElFreakoKid
"Average...seen it before...take it away please."
The Lego Bionicle series. A new gimmick dreamed up by the guys at Lego HQ to get even more money from parents whose kids must have the latest Lego (Can you guess that I have something against Lego?) bricks. Lego Bionicle is like a robot thingy made out of “hi-tech” Lego and it’s kinda cool…not that I like that sort of thing. As you should know, nowadays everything is made into a video game, hell there’s even a Hooters (as in the restaurant with the big breasted waitresses) driving game…what is the world coming to?
Lego Bionicle is an 3D (sort of) puzzler/RPG/platformer and it really is a stinker. Lets start with the…
Graphics 6/10
The graphics for this game are quite nice. Nothing special but what do you want from a game about brick robots? The graphics, lovely as they are, sometimes seem to work against you. Making you get stuck in passages and making it hard to judge if jumping over that hole will get you where you want to go or not. The robots themselves look the part although on the GBA screen they do look somewhat small. So overall not bad but nothing to scream and show off to your friends about.
Sound 6/10
Like the graphics, it doesn’t seem as if much time was put into the music. Its not terrible but it just doesn’t sound interesting. So overall not horrible…just meh. Put it this way: you won’t be buying the original soundtrack.
Gameplay/Control 7/10
Standard fare here with the D-Pad used to control your character, A being the action button (talk, use objects etc…you know ACTION button), B is the (surprise, surprise) cancel and jump button and the shoulder buttons are used for the tools you have. It's been done before and the Gameplay really is quite linear and you won’t really find yourself being challenged. It really is a tried and tested formula…but it’s just getting old and boring. This brings us to difficulty…
Difficulty 5/10
The game has the dreaded “save anywhere” feature which I personally hate. It just makes game easier…whatever happened to good old save points? Experienced and rookie players alike will find this game quite easy.
Replayability 4/10
The game shouldn’t tale you too long to complete and when you do finally do it I doubt anyone would like to come back.
Overall 6/10
Lego Media really tried hard with this game but in the end it is quite average and unspectacular. Even die hard Lego fans would be hard pressed to find this interesting. The Lego license doesn’t have some potential, maybe a game where you can just have as many blocks as you want in as many different shapes and build what you want…oh yeah…like Lego. Stick to the plastic bricks…
