Iridion 3D
Review by Elektra King
"Worth playing once or twice...well, not even twice."
Let me start by saying this is my personal opinion of Iridion 3D. Some people like this type of game and some don't. It all depends on you.
I'll get right to the point. I had read the reviews for Iridion 3D but I just couldn't pass it up when I found it (used) for a really good price. Now I'm wishing I'd passed this ''bargain'' up. This is one of those games that uses passwords instead of battery back-up saves. I don't know about you, but I HATE messing with passwords. I should think the GBA is beyond all that.
The Graphics
Pretty good, as are most of the GBA games I've seen. Great for a handheld system. Not stunning or breathtaking but not bad at all. It's pretty colorful and nice to look at, but there's really not much variety in the scenery.
The Gameplay
Not so good. If there's no gameplay, there's just no game. This is kind of like an arcade-style game with no real storyline or interesting plot. It's extremely hard and SO easy to toss the game aside and forget about it.
The Sound
So-so. The music is good as are the sound effects, but as most people will agree, this is not the reason we buy games. The music did start to get on my nerves after a while but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out how to fix that.
Replay Value
None whatsoever. Once I went through the game, as hard as it was, I did NOT want to play the thing again. It gets boring after about the second level and increasingly difficult. There's no reason to play it again unless you just really enjoyed it.
Rent or Buy?
Don't even consider buying it if you've never played it. If you think you may like it, I would say rent or borrow it from someone who already has it. Then you decide whether you want to buy it (or just do your friend a favor and steal their copy of it).
The Bottom Line
If you are a fan of arcade-style games with no storyline, then you may enjoy Iridion 3D. But for those who are looking for adventure or role-playing (the really fun stuff) then I would tell you to pass this one up. It becomes pretty monotonous after 10 minutes and I just didn't like it enough to continue playing after I kept dying over and over and over. Even at $12, I felt as though I got ripped off but that may be just because this is not my kind of game.
