Final Fight One
Review by Bryan Fury
"80s action movies have never been this much fun!"
Final Fight One is a remake of the classic Super NES title that revolutionized the brawling genre (sadly, a genre that is now essentially dead). It was hugely successful in it's time, and now Capcom's port of the old classic proves that it is still as great as it was years ago.
Story 8/10
If you've ever found yourself enjoying an old '80s action flick (I know I have), then you'll grow to appreciate the tale of this mayor who's gone down to take out a gang of thugs who have gone to far and intends to wipe out with his bare hands. Cliche, but still fun.
Graphics 8/10
It was a port of a Super NES title, so expect similar graphics. It's use of large characters was one of the causes of it's success, and it still looks magnificent to this day.
Sound 10/10
Clear and loud sound effects give a nice touch to this game, as well as it's share of voice clips. Effects like ''Oh, my car'' alone makes this deserve a 10.
Music 10/10
Slightly different from the original version, but still fast-paced, upbeat, and very catchy. The music helps add to the atmosphere of the game when you're pounding away common street punks.
Controls 10/10
Very simple controls make this a very easy to play game, which are also customizable in the option menu for your personal preference.
Challenge 10/10
The large amount of enemies can be a bit overwhelming at times to gamers, and it might be found to be rather difficult to get through a stage in one continue for beginners, but the game has several options to help adjust the difficulty of the game to your level of skill.
Gameplay 9/10
You probably already know if you've ever played Double Dragon or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but this is taken a step farther. You'll find tons of thugs to beat in this game, which though monotonous to some gamers, is something that many can never tire of. It's ease of use and ability to pick it up and enjoy is a very admirable feature.
Replay 10/10
Capcom has done an amazing job with this translation, adding a large amount of secrets for fans. You'll find a lot of additional features, such as level selection, character color palettes, and Guy and Cody from Street Fighter Alpha (plus more).
Overall 10/10
This is a very enjoyable and fun title that is recommended to many gamers, which makes it so easy to pick up and pound away at street punks, that it's no wonder that it was considered a great game then, and it still is now.
