Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku
Review by hunterbiko
"Wow I smell something do you?"
Legacy of Goku is yet another prime example of the old formula. If you stick a famous name on horse dung every one will buy it. The game not only butchers an already butchered story, it's boring predictable and unbelievably short. This game scream a quick fix for a quick buck with no regards for the gamers out there at all. Now let's break it down shall we.
Graphics: 4/10 Yes the opening into is very nicely done, and the still clips are neat, but the in-game graphics are bland and unimaginative. Many games have easily exceeded this game's level of graphics and a few pretty pictures won't help them.
Sound: 2/10 They seem to have just tossed together the sounds while in their basement. Just really badly rehashed music from the series nothing special here. The 2 sound bites they have of Goku are pretty pathetic too.
Story: 1/10 Some how they actually managed to mess this up. Changing things just to make Goku a better looking hero character. Many important parts such as Vegeta's death or Gohan's first showing of his true power were either skipped totally or just mentioned in passing. Many times movie or TV scripts are slightly altered to make better games, but never this much.
Gameplay: 1/10 There is nothing RPG about this game. Walk around and hit things, walk around and throw a Ki blast at things, repeat for 4 hours or so. That is about all this game has to offer. There are no challenging puzzles, no mazes to confuse you. Ever thing is right there in front of your face. The AI is pathetic the enemies repetitive, and provide no challenge to you. The bosses patterns are predictable and easy they all attack in the same way. They walk around and try to hit you, occasionally they will throw a fireball, just hit them first and walk around hit them again and you win. It's the way form start to finish. The fetch quest they toss in are horribly thought out. I don't think Goku is going to pick flowers for some little brat while his own son's life is in danger.
In conclusion if I felt a real attempt was made at a good game I would have been kinder, but this is just an obvious attempt to sell by name and not by quality. If the price was $3.95 I would say it was worth it, but it's not it's almost $40. I highly recommend against getting this game.
