Pac-Man Collection
Review by Alexander S
"Four Pacman Games in one! (If only they were all good...)"
I got this game for $30 right before I went on a big trip to France. I can say that the game is pretty good, however Namco needs to have thought more about which games to include. They are not all that good.
Graphics: 6/10
The Graphics are pretty lame. Okay, it's just a 2D Pac-man game, but they could have made the Graphics better. Oh well...
Sound: 6/10
There is nothing special about the sound, but since it does not get annoying I'll give it a 6.
Controls: 9/10
Pac-Man's controls have always been simple. I did have occasional problems with the fact that, unless you tell Pac-Man to switch direction, he will always be moving in a certain way. He can't stop if he does not ram into a wall. However, even with small problem, the controls are overall good.
Gameplay: 7/10
The Gameplay score could have been higher. There are four classic Pac-Man games. One is the original Pac-Man. This is an okay game. I don't like it because I like it when there is a set goal to reach. Pac-Man Original lets you play until you get a Game Over. Some people like this, I don't. The Second Game is Pac-Man Arrangement. This game has twenty-some levels and is pretty fun. It even has a boss battle! If each of the games was like this the score would have gone up a lot. Unfortunately, it only gets worse. The Third Game is Pac-Attack. It is a tetris-style game with Pac-Man. It is okay, but it gets pretty boring. The regular mode is basically survive until the bricks reach the top. The Puzzle mode is nice. However, later Puzzles are insanely difficult. Some people will like Pac-Attack. I think it is okay. It is deffinately better than Pac-Mania, the fourth game. It is a HORRIBLE 3D Pac-Man attempt. It has jumping and other similar things. However, it is hard to see everything, jumping often is a disadvantage, and basically it is boring.
Fun Factor: 7/10
Even with the overdose of bad games mixed in with the good ones, the game is still pretty good. Pac-Man Arrangement is very good and you'll find yourself playing it a lot more than the other three. Overall, you will most likely not be disappointed.
As always the scoring system is:
Graphics: 10%
Sound: 05%
Control: 25%
Gameplay: 30%
Fun Factor: 30%
Pac-Man Collection got these scores:
Graphics: 6(.6)
Sound: 6(.3)
Control: 9(2.25)
Gameplay: 7(2.1)
Fun Factor: 7(2.1)
Final Score: 7.35 rounds to a 7!
