Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones
Review by Tons Of Fun
"They finally got a Star Wars direct movie port right."
I'm going to go through a history of the Star Wars movie games. SNES: Super Star Wars, ok I guess but needed some improvemants in difficulty and a save anywhere feature. Super Empire Strikes Back, they improved the difficulty so the game is manageable but still no good save feature. Super Return of the Jedi, the best in the group and that's not saying much of anything; easiest of the three but still no stinkin save anywhere feature(lost all my passcodes at the very end of Jedi and Mega Man X3, man was I mad). Playstation, only one: Phantom Menace, this game was a Phantom Menace, the hype and somewhat good ratings for this game fooled me, and I went crazy in a bad way after playing this game nuff said. I was left feeling that there would never be a good Star Wars game based directly off the movies, boy was I was stupid (side note: I don't count the Atari or NES games because they just plain stunk). A few days ago I went to my local game store to look for a new game. They had Episode II for 24.99 so I bought it because it was cheap and it was Star Wars, I only read one review but it was from EGM and they gave BOF 2 a 7.0 and that is my favorite game for GBA so I didn't listen to them, their scores were 3.0 1.5 and I think another 1.5. I'm glad to say I won't listen to their GBA scores again.
Graphics: 9
Everything is amazing. They mix 2D and 3D on the fighting stages. On the driving stages it's Mode7 and while the driving stages could use a little better graphics, they only hurt the score a little bit. Other wise this game has superb graphics.
Sound: 10
Whoa, this game's sound rocks. Tunes from the movie mixed with it's own unique sound. Never did I once not want to stop playing because of the sound. I would rate this as one of the top GBA sound tracks. It doesn't hurt to listen to this game.
Control:7
The conrols are the lowest score because they are a little weird at first. Once you get used to them they are just fine. I don't like the interface of using the control pad everytime you attack and two times it lead me to death. The only other minor problem is sometimes it feels as if it takes the computer a while to figure out what button you hit. If they fix these problems for the next game I think it would top them all.
Life-Span:9
The reason this game's life span is long for me is that I played the game over and over. I wanted to get better at the control. Also I think it is the best Star Wars game movie adaption. I didn't want to put this game down. It did get very easy for me, and sad to say I had to stop because I was getting too good at it.
Impact: 10
This is the ultimate Star Wars game. It is fun and I love it. The controls will snag you at first but keep trying. The rest of the sweet sweet package is great. I couldn't ask for a better game.
Overall: 9
This is the best Star Wars movie adaption game. The reason it doesn't get a perfect 10 is the controls. This is an excellent game for any collection. Hope THQ keeps delevering the goods. Snoochie Boochies!
