"A good version of the classic fighter"

Tekken is without a doubt one of the greatest fighting games next to Street Fighter. When I heard Namco was bringing this game to the Gameboy Advance, I almost wet my pants! I knew I had to get this game when it came out! On Tekken's release date, I went down to my local game store to pick this up, and it was well worth my 40 dollars!

Graphics 9/10

Tekken's graphics are eye-popping for a Gameboy Advance game. The characters are well modeled, and they look like they came from a Nintendo 64 game! The only problem I saw with the graphics was with the zoom. When the camera zooms in, the characters look kind of blurry, which is bad because the camera is zoom-happy. Overall, Tekken's graphics are one of the many reasons to get this game.

Gameplay 7/10

Tekken's major flaw lies in the gameplay category: The combos! Ahhhhhhh! These things drived me nuts! Its kinda hard to do good combos when you have to press 13 or 15 different buttons to execute it! Unless you are a natural at fighting games, this will be a pain! The game modes are your basic fighting game modes, except Tag Match. Tag Match was my favorite part of the game. Its cool how you get to choose 3 characters to switch between in the middle of a match.

Sound and Music 7/10

There's nothing really special about Tekken's sound. Its basically simple background music mixed with the grunts from characters getting hit.

Replay Value 9/10

This game isn't very long, but even after you beat it, you will still have hours of fun. The Tag Match is what gives this game its replay value. Its been a long time since I got this game, and I'm still having fun with it. I probably have over 50 hours gameplay on it, and its still grabs my attention. Tekken is a fighting game you will enjoy for a long time.

Play Control 7/10

Pretty easy to master, except those frustrating combos I told you about in the gameplay section. It's basic fighting controls.

OVERALL 8/10

Tekkan is easily one of the best fighting games on the Gameboy Advance. If you've played the previous Tekkens, you will get into the game very quickly. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good fighter.

Rent or Buy?

I say buy it if you like the previous Tekkens. If you're not sure, then rent it. Either way, you'll be playing a good fighting game.
