Doom

"i guess FPS just isn't for GBA"
I eagerly awaited this game. I thought it would a groundbreaking classic game. I'm like ''FPS for GBA!?, this has to be great!'' But I only came to realize that this was a failed attempt of something great and maybe only for fans of this series.
Story line - N/A
I won't even give this game a story line rating. If I did, this game would have a 2/10 rating from me. Your trapped in a base on Mars, and... that's it. Really, it is. I don't have to explain anymore on this.
Graphics - 5/10
Well it is GBA and you can't expect too much from it, but then again maybe this game shouldn't of been made. When you start out you might be amazed for awhile enjoying the first person on your little handheld, but that ends. I seriously became a little dizzy and sick from these graphics. It could just be me but they just seem so annoying. The game's color is the only thing keeping you from not seeing anything. Though they did a nice job with the first person view, you can't really say that it has awesome or good graphics. Not when you can't tell the difference between a shotgun and a handgun.
Sound - 9/10
Despite everything else, this game has great sound, I would've given a ten if it weren't for the incredibly annoying sound of the horribly done footsteps. Everything from bullet shots, from the sound of the screaming monsters when they die, is great. At least for GBA capability.
Gameplay - 5/10
Now finally, the most important part of any game. And it is unfortunately not very good for this game. You start off and choose of three episodes which are all different, and then a difficulty, which is very accurate. Meaning ''I'm too young to die'',is in fact incredibly easy. After that you play the game, and realize that this game is extremely repetitive. You will find your self wondering throughout the entire game ''Why am I doing this? I don't care about shooting everything in site.'' It's all you pretty much do, besides finding cards and keys to open up doors. You wander through this ''base'' and find your way to the exit with your handy map, which you conveniently have of the entire level. You don't even have to find it, you just have it. You also get new weapons now and then. Which you can use to blast more guards and monsters. You get sick of blasting monster after monster and finally getting rewarded with finding the exit. Then you can continue and blast more monsters in the next level.
Control - 10/10
The control for this game is great! But then again how can it not be, it's a GBA. All games pretty much have good control. But this game has something I'm very happy to say gives it better control than most GBA games. Strafing is extremely easy due to the GBA's shoulder buttons. I like the controls and it definitely deserves the 10 it got.
Replay Value - 2/10
I just don't see any point of playing this game again, even if you were bored enough to play it through once, this game doesn't have what it takes for replay value. If you like killing monsters and enjoy blasting them constantly then you'll love it and do it again. If your like me you'll probably sell it to someone.
Overall
Go rent this game, if you really want to try it. You just might like it. It might be your kind of game. But this just is not a buy. If you are completely sure and you know that you love Doom and you think it's the best game, then don't listen to me. But a lot of you aren't huge fans and if your not, you probably won't like it. I was really very exited about this myself, but I just came to realize that maybe... first person shooters just might not be for GBA.
