BattleBots: Beyond the BattleBox
Review by prankster1221
"The show is great, the game is different."
I truly thought this game would be awesome. I loved the show and thought nothing could go wrong with the game. But something went wrong...
Graphics - 5/10
When you start the battle you will see yourself and some gray stuff around you. Then you'll realize that it's the floor. You see some other blob crashing into to you. You don't know what it is. Why? Because you can't see it. It doesn't look like a robot. Then when you get the hang of what everything looks like, you'll start to notice some stuff. The fire is not fire, it's a pixilated blob. I mean it looks like the robot is throwing up. There are no shadows or anything either so you can't really tell wether you got hit into the air or whether you're still on the ground. So you have to strain your eyes just so that you can see this game.
Control - 9/10
The control is very good. It's a Game boy game so the control can't be bad. If it was... well that would be sad. You can the control type to anything you find comfortable. So it's just fine.
Sound - 5/10
Let me start off by saying that everything basically sounds the same. Crashing into robots, walls, using your weapons. It's all the same. You also have some annoying music in the background that adds to the crashing sounds. I first forgot I was playing a GBA and thought I was playing a Game boy Color or something. Then I realized it was the game and turned off the sound. Chances are, you will probably play this game with your volume off.
Gameplay - 3/10
You get different modes and robots to choose from in the game. The thing is, it's all pointless. I don't see the difference in the modes. Whether I'm playing one match or repetitive matches in championship mode, it's all the same. It's all a match, just that the modes have different names. I think they have championship mode in there just for the fun of it, because it's the same as exhibition. There is also nothing to unlock, no robots, levels, nothing. You're just playing without a goal. You're supposed to have fun with the robots and levels you have but you get bored of it in two minutes.
Value
Not a buy, not a rent, it's nothing. I was incredibly mad after playing this game. I had wasted thirty bucks on this. You will be just as mad as I am if you buy it. For your own good, do not buy this game. I am giving you advice. If you can get this game for five bucks from a friend, then you buy it. But don't buy it in the store. Trust me.
