Dragon Ball Z Collectible Card Game
Review by Lord Silk
"My take on Dragonball Z: CCG"
Story: 3/10
Well, the story in this game is pretty nonexistent. However if you thinking about buying this game you already know the story it is supposed to go through. You fight the main characters from the Saiyan Saga through the Cell Saga of the anime series; ladder match styye. The only ''story' you get is one line of text between opponents at the start and at the end of a match.
Sound: 3/10
Two music tracks; one for the start screen and one for the rest of the game. Sound effects are functional but with no real variety. You hear attack sounds like a punch and that is about it. After a while the repetitiveness will get to you and you will turn the music off. I suggest leaving the effects on and sitting by a radio.
Graphics: 8.5/10
Some people may think this a bit high, but I gave it an 8.5 because it faithfully represents the cards. It keeps the art and style of the real cards intact. Each of the cards has a pleasant picture from the show; bright and colorful. The resolution of the screen does not detract from the quality of the picture. Only on a few cards will you notice graininess.
Gameplay: 9/10
This is what truly makes the game worth getting (although gameplay should be the most important aspect of most games; unfortunately that does not seem to be the case as much these days). It follows the game exactly, minus a few recent rules changes in the current game. The game play can be a bit slow at times. The computer adds a pause between actions; usually which can be stopped by pressing the A button. If you like the card game you will like this. If you like other card games like Magic:TG, Warhammer, or any of the other ones.... I think you'll enjoy this game. I never played the actual card game (was a Magic fan)but I truly enjoy this game. The one thing I would have liked to see was the inclusion of more cards, especially from the Cell Saga. The first time you go this game will probably take about 20 hours. This is a rough guess for an beginner player for one of the characters to beat Cell. Note you need to beat him repeatedly with different characters to unlock other ones.
Replayability: 8/10
With several hundred cards and unlockable characters, this game should last you a long time. You can also spend your playing other people and trading cards as well as building your testing your newest decks.
Bottom Line: If you are a card game fan, grab the game. If not, stay away.
Have fun with this one....
