Breath of Fire II

"An RPG that is awesome even with a few flaws"

Story 10
Now this takes place 500 hundred years have past since the story of Breath of fire. It is good for the most part. Only during one little bit is it horrible enough to lose interest. But it quite nice an enjoyable. Only once and a while do you actually have to use certain characters.

Graphics 10
While the graphics aren't like golden sun they are good. Most people don't like the graphics but this is a remake!! Also character design looks very nice. The only real problem is if you ever play the SNES version then the characters are almost way too compact. But that can be fixed with 15.00$ (for a magnifier). The colors are any where from really bright to really dark. This really does make it very nice to see.

Sound 10
Now the music is good. While there is nothing extremely memorable, it isn't pull your eye balls out of there sockets annoying!! I'm giving it a ten just because the music never got really bad.

Battle 10
Battle moves well. I don't see it going too slow like I've heard people say. The only flaw in this area is the dragon transformations. They are attacks now that take all your AP. But there is also a shaman fusion thing which helps power up your characters! Also the experience and gold is now triple what it was.

Mini-games/side quests 10
There are many mini-games that are quite good. Once you get used to it fishing is fun. Fishing now is much more involved than Breath of fire. But it lacks what Breath of fire 3 has for a system. Then there is building your own town. You get a lot of people to select from (You have to search around the world).

Controls 10
Now the controls are quite smooth. It is hard to screw up RPG controls though. Now there is you can run! It is actually quite fast! Also there the character skills (Rand's roll ex..) are well done.

Final 10/10
I totally enjoy this game and recommend it to all who own a GBA and like RPGs. Also I'd say this game is way better than golden sun (which right now being argued about as the best GBA RPG)!! The only real con it the Dragon system. Other than that this is one of the best RGPs! Buy or rent? Buy defiantly! You will rack up a huge rental fee too beat it!! Now what are you waiting for? Go buy it!!
