Tekken Advance
Review by YuYevon427
"A Great Fighter! It's not Tekken 3 though"
Tekken Advance proves to be a very good portable fighter. In my opinion Tekken Advance is THE best fighting game ever to grace a hand held.
Graphics 10/10
The graphics for Tekken Advance are the best I've ever seen on a GBA game. It looks very nice, it has a nice 3D feel to it. If you're into flashy graphics, then this is the best you can get on a hand held. It's only rivaled by Golden Sun, which has excellent graphics also.
Sounds 7/10
The background music is average and everything else.. Well.. It's average. Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance and Circle of the Moon in my opinion have the best music ever on a portable, Tekken's music isn't bad, but it isn't good either. It's a fighting game, do you need music that bad?Nothing really great here, move along.
Story 5/10
It really takes a lot away from the game now that there's no endings, nor are there even any form of plot to this game at all. Tekken vets may understand why their favorite character is fighting, or maybe they won't.
Characters 8/10
A good list of Tekken favorites, Xaioyu, Hworang, King, Law, Nina, Jin, Yoshimitsu, Paul, and a few others that slip my mind.. Heihachi is now a secret character you can obtain by beating arcade mode with the 9 playable characters. The downside to this Tekken is the fact that there isn't a huge list of secret characters to unlock, and there isn't much difference in fighting styles, or so it seems.
Replay 6/10
If you have friends, two GBA's, and a link cable, then you'll have plenty of fun with Tekken Advance for a long while. If you're friend-less and own only one GBA, then you're out of luck, you might enjoy Tekken Advance for a few days, until you get very tired of it.
Controls 9/10
Good controls, the four-buttons thing makes it feel sort of weird. Tekken Advance has a HUGE move list for a four buttons. It's no where near what Tekken 3 had, but it's still huge. The fighting styles seem a whole lot alike, that's something that I really didn't like.
In closing, Tekken Advance is the best portable fighter I've ever played, past present, and maybe even future(unless things improve a WHOLE lot in the coming months/years). I'll have fun with Tekken Advance and maybe you will too. Of course Tekken Advance comes no where close to the PSX Tekkens, 1, 2, or 3, not even close! That's not even counting Tekken Tag Tournament and Tekken 4(which make this game look awful)! It's the best portable you can find, but if you happen to own a PSX or PS2, I suggest you get one of the other Tekken games.
