Madden NFL 2003
Review by Mr Tea
"Madden at its best"
This game is probably the best sports game there is at the moment for GBA and can compete with other systems.
Gameplay: 9/10
The game is great, the passing system is fine, and running the ball is a greater option. The playbooks are great since you get every system, and every play instead of set playbooks. The special teams could use some work, mainly the kicking system. Selecting plays is great and is easy to use. Having False Start penalty before you even getting to the line of scrimmage is a pain in the butt, though luckily you can change that in the penalty settings screen.
Realistic Factor: 9/10 This game is like real football, it isn't sack fest, but running up the gut is sort of hard, but not as hard as Madden 2002 for N64, and the other games. A problem is that corners and safetys shouldn't be able to cream Marshall Faulk on a HB Screen, with Faulk having 3 blockers, and a lot of room.
Sound: 10/10
Real songs, not like some other Madden games which were 40ish ''doos'' in a row, repeating itself, or a rapper rapping about John Madden. Realistic sounds during the game. It would be a crime against humanity to turn this great music off. Very nice sound overall.
Graphics: 8/10 Great Graphics, but the characters could be a bit bigger. Graphics are hard to see on this small screen, and the endzones aren't so hot. Team logos are very realistic, but it looks like they cut and pasted Maddens picture on the pause screen.
Replay Value: 10/10 Awesome Replay Value. You can be a complete offensive team one year, and then only specialize on defense the next year. With over 525 possible games, and limitless rosters, you could play hundreds of hours before things repeat themselves.
Originality: 10/10 What can I say, it's Madden football. Teams are super, and the Houston Texans in this year can give you a challenge, by playing All- Madden level and winning the super bowl. Passing system is better than pressing A Button to pull up the passing screen. Madden is and has always been 10 times better than Blitz and QB Club.
Buy or Rent: Rent, but be warned, you'll probably end up buying it. It was the best 20 bucks I ever spent.
