Yu-Gi-Oh! The Eternal Duelist Soul
Review by Rhysterooni
"A big change from"
It is now an ''official'' card game with the tornament rules as of June. On the previous game it was all about combining low-powered cards, now counter magic and trap cards play a vital role. It may not measure up to some of the Japanesse games, but wha'dya expect? Better then DDS and FM combined though! 744 cards are a lot, but I found a great card list on this site.
I reccomend trying the real card game and seeing if you like it first as it is a love/hate relationship with people, you may find simalarites to magic, because it is well, a simplistic magic in my opinion. If you don't like the card game then don't by this game because it is a one player electronic Yu-Gi-Oh TCG.
What Genre?-TCG dummy(just kidding)
Now the Reviews of every SPEC
Gameplay- 6/10- I can't play more then 5 duels at a time but I come back a lot.
Story- N/A- its just be these people 5 times and move to the next round I don't miss the story much, as it was inferior, but I might want to see a decent one in a future game(Duelist of the Rose? who knows!).
Audio/Video- 1/10 and 9/10- Audio, find some good CDs... NOW repeditive Poke'mon esque music. Video, definantly aren't the best I've ever seen, but pretty darn good for the GBA!
Replayability- 4/10- Only reason I'd play it is to get more cards or a VERY long car ride and I am stuck in all of my other Game Boy games
Buy or Rent- Buy- I don't see the point of renting a GB game since they're for car rides in my opinion and most Blockbusters don't even rent them out. Like I said earlier try the cards first find someone, borrow their manuel, learn the game, borrow some cards and duel them. If you find yourself screaming with a victory or crying with defeat, then this is the game for you! $40 isn't too much but always check your options.
Yu-Gi-Oh in Review
Japanesse- Can you say poke'mon? Like 10 games, a 7 season show and an inventive card games and we only get the tip of the iceberg!
American- A small show which is a nice introduction to the game, a growing card game and 3 games wwith a PS2 coming this winter(I think). More and more kids fall in love with it everyday *sarcastically* Thanks Konami!
