"A perfect port of the grandaddy of all shooters"

Intro
Doom 2 is the sequel of Doom, which is probably the granddaddy of all first person shooters. It brought to us mapmaking, Internet play, and just the concept that lets us enjoy these games.

Controls-9/10
When I first played Doom II, the controls were very confusing, and my fingers kept crossing each other every now and then. Once I got used to it, I found that the controls were VERY helpful, since all the crucial commands were included, and also the controls were well placed out. Once you get used to the controls, you will love them. If you aren't satisfied with the controls, you can change them to suit you.

Graphics-7/10
The graphics for this game were real nice, and they looked exactly like the PC's graphics for Doom II. All the doors, played models, and others were the same. The colors on the screen add to the good points. The concepts I didn't like about the graphics is the fact that the frame rate wasn't top notch, but it wasn't too bad. Sometimes the colors on key-specific doors were hard to see from afar, and also, I had to squint sometimes, since the game was on such a small screen, but it was OK.

Sound-10/10
The sound for Doom II, wow. It is great. Like the graphics, it is just like the PC game. The music is top notch. There is a mixture of many types of music. The sound effects were cool and creepy also. The sound was clear and crisp, which was real nice. Hook up speakers, and it sounds real creepy, and almost as if you were in a retro game like this.

Gameplay-10/10
The gameplay just stunned me. It was just too good. There are so many levels to play, so many weapons, lots of enemies to face, many puzzles, and lots of action and thinking. Again, it is just like the PC version. The multiplayer is real fun to play with also. There is co-op mode, where you and your friend tear it up against the baddies, and also deathmatch, where your friend will be trying to kill you. The different difficulty levels are great also. Once you beat one difficulty level, you think your good. Once you go on to the next one, you are totally shocked.

Overall-9/10
In the end, this game was well planned, well executed, and just plain good. This is the perfect port, and is needed in any first person shooter's collection.
