WWF Road to Wrestlemania
Review by D Generate
"Absolutely no fun whatsoever."
WWF(now WWE) Wrestlemania. The biggest event of the Wrestling year. So, why is it when THQ create a game with ''Wrestlemania'' in the title, the game is nothing short of a failure?
Gameplay: What Gameplay? About two one player ''Modes'' With about 3 options for matches each. And what's up with that stamina bar? It just fluctuates for no reason whatsoever. Finishing moves are hard to pull of and each wrestler gets about 3 moves each. 4 if you count Irish whip. Cage matches are easily won. Hell, I've won most of my cage matches by just elbow dropping off the cage onto my opponent. There is no challenge in this game at all. And where are the divas? There are no sexy ringside chicks on this game either. Dear God, what have we done to deserve this? Half/10, because I'm in a good mood.
Sound: Sound is the only half decent part to the game. Music sounds good and It even has some speech in it, e.g. The Rock's music. In game, the music is pretty annoying, as is the title music. But as I said, its better than gameplay, so just sit back, listen and get beat up. Trust me, its more fun than playing. It would be better if there were some voices. Its been proved that even hand-helds can have some form of decent speech, as proved by Perfect Dark for GBC. 6/10
Graphics. Now tell me, is this supposed to be a GBA game, or a GBC game? The in-game sprites look like they were drawn in two minutes and thrown in to the game. I often found myself confused about which character I was and which character the computer was. (BTW, I was The Rock, and the Computer was Billy Gunn. Two different skin colours, but they look the same in the game.) GBA has already proven the high caliber of graphics it can handle, so why not take advantage of that? 3/10
Overall: Overall, a very dissapointing game. Horrible gameplay, half-decent sound and GBC caliber graphics add up to a horrible game which wasn't worth making. It's really easy, it isn't worth beating and it has a horrible shortage of wrestlers. 3/10
Rent or buy?: Neither. Don't even bother with it. You'll be disappointed. Trust me. I consider myself the most die-hard of all wrestling fans, and even I was put off by this game. The only reason for buying it that I can think of is for an expensive coaster.
