Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Review by goldensword
"A magically non-enchanting game."
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. A real pity. I thought this game would be great, no, fantastic! But then I remembered the old saying: Never judge a book by it's cover.
At the beginning, this game was O.K. But gradually, the game got more boring. Why it got more boring? Well, I suppose there are two ways of classifying this. The people that have read the book: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone/ Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone will find this game interesting. At first. The second group are the people that have actually not read the book or never known much about the world of Harry Potter. This game is just like a coin tossed in the air. You like or you don't. Now, let's get over finally with this 'introduction'.
Gameplay:
Well, the coin is back already. The gameplay is quite simpler than I thought. The gameplay consists of a main button: X. X, when near an object that needs magic to do something is what makes the magic. I hope it is not too confusing. Too people who like racing games you have a whole new feature: Magic Brooms. With a broom you assist one of the most magically enjoyable sport: Quidditch. But this type of Quidditch is much different than the one in the book. You actually have to go through a certain number of rings to get near the snitch (the snitch is the main objective). Well, you win the game even if your team had 0 points and the other more than 180! The camera angle though, is just hateful sometimes. You die so many times because of this. Jumping!. Jumping is just super easy. All you have to do is get near the edge which your jumping from and push forward/left etc. (depending where you’re jumping). Of course, this only works in short jumping distances. All in all, the Gameplay is too easy and gets boring after a while. 6/10
Difficulty:
Our coin will be here forever! Again, this depends. For me, this game was between Medium and Hard. It was of course, easy sometimes, but hard at some bosses. I found a very difficult boss. This is half spoilers so don’t read it if you don’t want to. The ‘toilet’ boss, the Ogre that attacks at Halloween was pretty difficult at first. For me. But then I beat it. Overall, I give this game a 5/10 for difficulty.
Story and replay:
Well, I suppose most of you know the story but I’ll just say a thing: A story in which evil fights good in a struggling game.
About the replay, I suppose the coin will never leave us. It is pretty good to go back through the game, but then you get tired as usual. One replay is ok but more makes you yawn. 3/10 for Replay.
Rent or buy?
I definitely say rent, since this game is only fun when played once...
I have been totally sincere during all this review. Overall, this game got 3/10.
