"Curse my impulse buying!"

Ok one day before I go to hawaii on a 5 hour plane trip i got on a mad buying spree of game. Included in such spree is gauntlet legacy. Iwas expecting sulll, repatative, uninspired, hack in slash brainless fighting. What I got was like drowning in chicken soup when you get a sniffle. Let the review commense.(sidenote here I got Tactics Ogre to wich almost makes it ok, almost).

Graphics
Bad, just BAD. I know its been said but these really are basically GBC graphics. Well there are a bit of 3D things I think but its so damn fuzzy I cant tell for sure. The only recognizibe enemys are the ground based ones, and they are very sad indeed. The Others are bassically stickmen blobs with different color schemes and maybe a spear thrown in. To my horror they failed to have a knockdown graphic. This means when a keg of explosives foes off they programmers decided it would be eaiser just to have you pushed back a bit instead of fall down. Same with golems, except you dont even get puched back you just keep hacking at the 400 ton beast. This gets a 1/10

Sound
Also bad. But not as bad as graphics. This had some voices used for selceing characters such as ''green'' ''red'' ''blue'' and then ''Sorcerer'' and ''warrior'' and so on and so forth. NOt only anooying but its.......annoying as well. Food eating sounds and hitting sounds and grunts and groans are far below par as far as Im concerned as well as the explosions. Oh yeah the music, slighty catchy for the first maybe 2 minutes. Then it slowy devours your soul from the inside out. I dont know how long the loop is but after 5 minutes of playing the game you will be able to sing the whole thing from memory, and I use the term sing lighlty. This gets a 2/10 for effort......voices are kinda new to me.....

Story
Nonexistent. Seriously, its the same as all the others from the series, except the decided we might remember good old Skorn from the last so they made the end boss called Garm I believe. Soemthing to that effect anyway. Well besides that your a great warrior and now you gotta beat things up...cause some guy said you had to. Fate of the world kinda stuff I guess. Im slappin it with a 1/10

Gameplay
Ouch. This just hurts me to think about. If youve ever played the other Gauntlet Legends for N64 of Gamecube of PS2 then pictuer playing it without Turbo run or attacks, Thats right they took out the option to turbo run OR attack, taking out and variation of attack. Now picture the graphics exptremly fuzzy and make it hard ot distinguish the enemys from the scenery. Good where getting there. Take out any use for gold becasue as far as I can tell there is no shop. No i didnt say take out gold cause its still there, now its job is the confuse you by makeing you think its your health meter casue thats what it sits next to, while counting how much useless loot you have. Ok now we got chunky controls to deal with. Throw stuff at thing is not realy in your control ehre besides wich direction out of 4 you want them to go, wich even that well change if you happen to press then R button. The R button is what is replacing turbo. Its strafing. The most useless thing you could add into the steeming turd of a game. It seems to me all it does is change wich was you face after shufflings areound for a few seconds. I want my god damned turbo back! So as you may have guesed Gauntlet: Dark Legacy did not fare well in this catogory. It would get a -50/10 but I guess I have to setel with a 1/10

Final score 1/10

In conclusion this is the biggest was of 40 dollers EVER!! The only good that comes out of my impulse buying is that someone else reads this review and stay s away form this game at all costs. Get Tactics Ogre instead. One of the best games I have ever played =)
