Dark Arena
Review by OOPRCT
"Is this the only game where when the main character gets hurt, she changes her voice into a male?"
Oh god, Just how does Majesco find such clowns to amke their games, it trivializes me. Dark Arena looked like it good pretty good scores in the review section, but when I bought it home, I was appaled. Read on to see my harrowing journey between with Officer Bradshaw stuck on a base. Hopefully, they'll fire their staff and hire better people to do the work on Majesco's games, because the current staff for this game needs to learn what a good game equals.
Graphics: 6/10
The Graphics on Dark Arena are okay, but it doesn't look totally gritty, seeing it's a 3D game, it manages consitency for the graphics, but there's no blood and the corpses dissapear, and the levels are horribly boring due to no music and redundancy.
Sound/Music: 2/10
HOLY. CRAP. I don't belive how awful the sound is, since there is no music, the sound is just mediocre. When the main character, a female is damaged, she makes male grunts, and if you didn't read the manual, most people would assume the main character would be a guy. The only reason I gave it a two is that the monsters made good grunts.
Gameplay: 5/10
Ugh, the gender-challenged character walks too slow, and when you move up against a wall, you move left and it's choppy. Not only that, you start back with a puny pistol at the beginning of every level, and the passwords are hard to remember, and the guns are balanced, the each gun is stronger than the gun before it, at least other FPS tried to balance the guns.
Story: 3/10
The same typical story that most FPS use. You play as Officer Bradshaw, who is the sole survivor in a base, who is trying to rid it of it's evil aliens from a project gone wrong (Hmm, that sounds like Resident Evil to me).
Replayability: 1/10
I don't see why anyone would want to replay this junk game again, there's no high scores or anything to unlock, and there's barely any secrets in the levels. So if you wanted a game with replay value, this game is not it!
Overall Score (Averaged)
Graphics: 6/10
Sound: 2/10
Gameplay: 5/10
Story: 3/10
Replayability: 1/10
OVERALL: 3/10 (rounded to the nearest tenth)
Final Words: This game could've been better, if they didn't cut small things like the man voice, dissapearing corpse, no blood, unequal guns, no secret or high score, original story, music, and interesting levels this game could have been a lot better.
