Super Monkey Ball Jr.
Review by mjfru201
"A simple, yet outstanding game"
When I first played this I thought it was going to be a little kids game...well I was wrong, dead wrong. This is one of the best games I've seen all year for the Gameboy Advance! I recommend it for all ages! Read my review to find out more about Super Monkey Ball Jr.
First off the graphics all spectacular. The whole entire game is in 3D. Each world is unique and detailed from the game board to the background! Even the characters look realistic when you're going to choose who you are going to be (and when you're actually playing). The little bobbing heads at the top of the screen that show how many lives you have look real! Even the little bananas look outstanding.
The music is exceptional! The background music keeps a constant up-beat, lively tone to keep you feeling good even when you get frustrated. The sound effects are mediocre, nothing great, yet nothing to be disappointed by.
The one thing the drops this games' score is the story. There basically is none other than that you are some monkey out collecting bananas on mysterious hovering platforms in the sky. The game is fun enough without a story, so it's no big problem that this game doesn't have one.
The gameplay at first looks to be very stupid to people you judge the game by the back (and front) of the box. The basic goal of the main game is to collect your monkey's bananas before the timer runs out. This game also has up to thirty different game boards to go through, with various levels of difficulty. Super Monkey Ball Jr., also has some very cool mini-games as well, they include games such as, Monkey Duel (a two player game),Monkey fight (a very enjoyable boxing type of game where you try to knock other monkeys out of the ring), Monkey golf, and Monkey Bowling. All of these games are great fun!
The controls in this game are just about the easiest and simple controls I've even had experience with! Through out the game all you mainly use is the D-pad. I'm pretty sure you don't use A or B during the real main game, only on the menu and in mini-games. Overall the controls really add on to the level of enjoyment that the game play has.
Not only does the game play well but it also has a high difficulty to go along with it. In the main game you are suspended on the game board and if you make the slightest wrong move around the edge you're done for. A couple of the levels are very extremely difficult when some of them you could do with one brain cell
My Rundown
Story 3/10
Gameplay 9/10
Graphics 10/10
Difficulty 7/10
Replay 8/10
Overall 9/10(not an average)
Final Word
This is a great game for all ages. Don’t be fooled by its’ childish box art. If you don't think this is a good game for well think again. I'll say it one more time; this is a great game that no one should pass up if you’re looking for a good, fun time.
