Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel

Review by Omniblitz

"Yeeeeesssss.....I've been waiting ages to get that card!!!"

The popular franchise Yu-Gi-Oh has been faithfully translated to the Game Boy Advance. Have Konami done the massively popular TV series justice? We shall see....

Gameplay: 9/10

The gameplay is superb if your an avid Yu-Gi-Oh card player. The rules are practically identical to the real card game, and not many details are missed. The AI is unsurprisingly intelligent, as they always have been in previous Yu-Gi-Oh games, and characters such as Yami Yugi and Pegasus are a real challenge.

Sound: 7/10

Hmmmmm....Yeah reasonable i guess, not exactly awe inspiring, but it does the job. There are a few ''Duel'' tunes which are quite catchy, but the majority is just background music really. The sound affect are o.k, nothing mazingly outstanding though. Not really the strong point of the game.

Graphics: 9/10

The cards are excellently depicted in the game for 16 bit graphics, and the characters look pretty well done aswell. Apart from that there is not much else to look at. All in all....Good.

Storyline: 5/10

No real storyline, apart from....Get the best cards, beat the best duelists, and be supreme champion!!

Difficulty: 7/10

This game is a mixture of easy and extremely hard oppenents. At first the oppenents you face are fairly easy, and a mere pushover once you have won a few cards from winning. The later oppenents such as Yami Yugi and Pegasus duel with exremely well thought out tactics, and you in turn will have to think carefully about what you place in your deck in order to beat them. The tournaments are also fairly hard, and require carefully thought out decks also. But with a little practice, and a good deck, you can become unstoppable.

Addictiveness: 10/10

This game is without a doubt one of the most addictive games I have come upon, and trying to get the best deck is something you continually strive for, in order to beat the stronger opponents, and become the master duelist. The game takes a while to get to grips with if you have never played the Yu-Gi-Oh card game before, but once you have understood how the concept of the game works, your'll be addicted for months to come, especially with the link up option to duel against your friends.

Overall: 9/10

A solid game with more overiding good factors than bad. Very few flaws, and a card game which exudes addictiveness. Worthy of a purchase....And for any aspiring Yu-Gi-Oh card duelist, a must have for practicing for the real thing, sort of like a simulator :P
