WarioWare Inc.: Mega MicroGame$
Review by ajservo
"Does anyone want my copy?"
I plunked down $30 for this game, and this is it?
Graphics: The graphics in this game were probably the biggest stand out. Simply put, they're perfect when they need to be, and never look out of place. The G&W style games look to be their counterparts, and the NES emulations are spot on. The others are what they are, and pretty, and clean enough to make out and enjoy. 8 of 10
Gameplay: The object of each game is thrown at you right as you start it, so it's sink or swim as to if you finish it the first time. Repeats of several of the games will be needed. I promise. You get 4 tries per level, then you start over if you fail. Really the only incentive here is that you have to memorize the general pattern of beating each game. On the game's own benefit, the order of each round of games is random to a degree. But after you jump over a hot dog on wheels or picking a nose, etc 3-4 times over the course of a game, it starts to wear thin. The concept of 200 or more games is kinda thin, when 1 game involves 1 finger in a nose, and then another is 2 fingers, one for each nostril. Or Wario jumps a shark on wheels, then it's a coconut on wheels, then a hotdog on wheels. That's 3 games right there. 5 of 10.
Sound: Good, I guess. Music's really japanese in some parts, others is really outdated sounding, so I guess in both instances, it's perfect considering that this game is what it is. 4 of 10.
Replay value: This is the absolute worst game when it comes to replay. There are a handful of bonuses, but I promise you, by the time you get to the end of the game, you won't want to unlock any, unless it's convenient. I bought this game @ 3pm, took a 2 hour nap, ate dinner, and finished it by 8 pm. And I could care less to play it again. You have to replay so many of the games a second or third time anyway to progress the levels, it's not fun to try to slog through them again. And an EASY mode AFTER you beat the game is not an extra... I seriously want my money back. 1 of 10. Lower if possible.
Overall: Even after reading glowing reviews of this game, and initially enjoying the game for what it is for a good portion of when I was playing it, I ended up regretting this game a great deal. I can't pinpoint why I didn't like it, other than the replay value. The whole concept of the game feels like a cheat after you actually play it through. Seeing as how almost NO ONE rents GBA games, I see this one flooding gamestop used title shelves within weeks. If you are fortunate enough to be able to rent it, enjoy it while it lasts, and see if you can dupe your renter into thinking that it's broken so you can at least get your money back there too...
