Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel

Review by Eggzmaster

"Meh."

I've never been a big Yu-Gi-Oh fan. Never. My little bro' plays it, but that's pretty much it. I have been a fan of TCG (Trading Card Games) videogames ever since the Pokemon TCG one for the game boy. Why? Because you can play them for free. Well, anyways, time I stop ranting and get onto the review.

Gameplay:

Once again, Meh. Standard Yu-Gi-Oh gameplay. The one problem is that you start out with very crappy cards. You have to work your way up from the very bottom. Once you get to winnin' a few duels, then you can get somewhere. Every time you win a duel, you get a booster pack. Of course, the chances of you getting good cards in a booster pack is very slim. Once you get to the top, the game is very enjoyable.
8/10

Graphics:

Your standard fare for a GBA game. Pixely and full of color. The character graphics are very good, howhever, and they look just like in the Anime and Manga! The card images are not very crisp, but they get the job done. But, then again, what do you expect for a TCG game? Not much.

Audio

Beleive it or not, repetitive midi's DO get annoying after about 30 minutes of listening to them. Yeah, I know, hard to believe. But in all seriousness, the only song I found to be annyoning (and I do use the term ''song'' loosely) is the battle theme. It's pretty much 7 or 8 notes replayed in variating octaves. Other than that one Midi, the rest of the songs are pretty ok.
7/10

Replayability

Maybe replay it once or twice. But there isn't really any reason to replay it...you just start over with crappier cards. Yeah. Not very good. Only the most daring Yu-Gi-Oh fans will atempt this.

Story

The story goes like this: you duel people over and over and over and over. If you're a fan of the Anime, then you'll know that there is a Battle City portion. Long story short, there is no story. I suppose the only story in it would be that you are a duelist wanting to be the King of Games.

N/A/10

To rent or to buy?

Only buy if you're into Yu-Gi-Oh. Renting would be pointless, it takes time to build up your deck. Buy, Buy, Buy!

If you're a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, then this game is for you! Gotta go, Yu-Gi-Oh is on.
