Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
Review by DarkCrono x2
"My first Kirby....and I love it!"
:Welcome to DarkCrono x2's review of Kirdy: Nightmare in Dreamland:
This game provides a short, sweet fun three or so hours of side scrolling fun. I need it while...well let me tell you the story of how I was to acquire this game. I live in Charlotte, North Carolina, and this January a blizzard hit the Queen City. The power was out all over town and breaking all kinds of records. Honestly, it was so bad trucks were coming from West Virginia to provide power. Well, as you can guess, I was bored out of my mind. And the same gameboy games were getting old. My father was going to Wal Mart for the basic supplies, and I decided to pick up this game for some entertainment. And boy, was I entertained! This game is great! Honestly, I think it got me through the entire week of no power. Now, let me explain its quality...
:Enjoy:
:Controls:
I usually don't start off my reviews with controls, but I thought I would switch things up for this one. Kirby: NiD has excellent controls, I mean it only has two buttons! But it really was a very convenient layout. A jumps and B sucks in air or performs Kirby's special attacks depending on his character attribute. Not only that, but there is not even a sign of slowdown as with a lot of action games on GBA.

:Graphics:
I love these graphics! They are very neat, and Kirby has so many different poses and positions! It must have taken a very long time to script out all those sprites, not to mention the enemies. I also enjoy the landscapes and backgrounds in Kirby:NiD. They make for a fun, exciting level or a dark and haunted one. They always, along with the music, provide a perfect feel for what is to come in the next few minutes of your Kirby experience. These graphics portray the game perfectly.

:Music & Sound:
Wow, these are some great tunes. I later played the original version of this game, and I must say, the music is very faithful to the original. I like that. The tracks are just right for a Kirby game, a lighthearted beat with the kind of speed that makes you want to suck up random creatures and spit stars back at them. The sound is good also faithful to the original. It fits whatever you are doing in the game and Nintendo deserves a pat on the back for that one.

:Gameplay:
The gameplay in Kirby:NiD is what makes the game worth your while. For those few that haven't played a Kirby game before(hey, I've been there), Kirby is a game of skill where you must float Kirby around side scrolling courses, all the time sucking up misc. foes who give you skills such as whipping a sword around, throwing fireballs or even invincibility. Some area can only be progressed through by having a certain skill. Besides the main game, Kirby: NiD has a few mini games which are tons of fun and can be played multiplayer. I love the grinding one. Its great. The whole thing provides for a great game anyone can pick up and enjoy.

:Replayability:
Once you are done, you are done. Unless you play multiplayer, you probably won't play it again right away.

:Overall:
Kirby is great! I would probably rent this unless you are a hardcore Kirby fan.

:DC's Final Word:
Now I'm a hardcore Kirby fan! Thanks goes to Nintendo for another great franchise!
:Goodbye:
