Dragon Ball Z: The Legacy of Goku II
Review by BahamutTiamat
"Much, much better than the original!!!"
Introduction
I'll make this short and simple if you're a Dbz fan and you own a Gameboy Advance this game is a must! Okay, I understand, you like many other DBZ fans have purchased the original Legacy of Goku and was horribly disappointed but this game is totally different. Honestly this game is nothing less than 10x better than the first. It is quite obvious that the creators went back to the drawing boards and redid the entire system so that its faster, better looking and most important fun!!
Gameplay
The legacy of Goku unlike other DBZ games is an action rpg. What that means is your characters grow, gain levels and there-in learn new moves or abilities. The game continues through the Trunks, Android and Cell sagas from the anime. What makes this game fun is that it is realtime unlike more popular rpgs such as Final fantasy or Breath of Fire, this makes it easier to get into for the leisure player. Enough ranting, onto the juicy stuff. As mentioned earlier the gameplay is much, much better than the first. First of all, you can now choose multiple characters to complete certain tasks. If you've watch the anime this will make perfect sense. The gamescript is very similar if not exactly the same as the anime. Even Vegita's insults remain the same!! The basic combos such as punching and kicking have been severely refined from the first game. Characters no longer take days to throw a single punch or kick, now you can unleash devastating combo to defeat your enemies. One last thing, at a certain point in the game you get an abilities that allows you to magically change you hair and eye color you know what I'm talking about. Not to give out any more spoilers but there are sidequests to complete that enhance gameplay and reward players with....I'm not sayin' ^-^
Graphics
Can't complain! If you're expecting top notch Gameboy Advance graphic go buy Golden sun The lost Ages but for this type of game the graphics are fine. The Ki animations are great, you'd swear you were watching the anime! The characters look like their anime counterparts so that's a plus. Oh, lets not forget the villains! All the villains from the three sagas are there including cell, freeza and androids. The regular nobody enemies that waste your time before fighting the boss also look and attack appropriately. Some specialize in ranged while others in melee attacks so they'll keep you on your toes till the end.
Controls
Same old same old, punch kick, ki blast...
Closing Comments
Don't waste time, if you're a fan of the series you'll absolutely love this game and if you're not you'll still enjoy yourself! Take my word for it, buy this game it's not a waste of money. Still, if you must, rent it if you're apprehensive, careful though you'll love it so much you may not return it on time!! ^-^
