CT Special Forces 2: Back in the Trenches
Review by ravetrade
"Mediocre Forces"
This is one of those games that no one ever hears about. Although I'm not saying this game should be popular, far from it, but this game isn't all bad either. You sure won't be talking about this game to your friends, but it will keep you company those times that you can't seem to find Castlevania or Golden Sun.
Storyline: 5
The game puts you in the skin of a special forces unit. You go through the missions, and you beat the boss. Your commander gives you praise, then you go through a different special forces unit. Rinse and repeat.
Graphics: 7
The main menu is a little bit bland, and the gameplay graphics are what you would expect from a low-budget game. The only real problem are some of the face graphics.... bleh. But the graphics don't make a game.
Sound: 5
The music sort of fits the mood, and the sound effects (I think) are on par. You're not missing anything if you turn down the sound and listen to some sweet beats though :)
Controls: 8
Very simple, during any game mode.
Helicopter: A for ground attack, B for air attack
Person: A for jump, B for shoot, R for grenade, and down+A for roll.
Difficulty: 5
Your first missions are a piece of cake. There really is not too much stopping you from beating this game, just don't put the game on 3-star lol.
Gameplay: 9
I think this is where the game certainly shines. Nothing all that inventive, it just has a nice compilation of modes so you won't get bored of the same thing over and over. The first mission has you in a helicopter guarding a convoy, and the next has you on foot taking out terrorists. To break the ground-action, you parachute off of a building, drive a tank, and snipe to rescue some hostages. There are a lot of things to keep this game interesting.
Rent or Buy:
There aren't too many reasons to make you want to put down $30-40 on this game unless you like going through the missions over and over using the password system or to beat your sibling on the multiplayer mode. I would recommend the rent option.
Overall: 7 *not an average*
If you are getting tired of the tactics of Advance Wars or leveling up your Pokemon, then pop this game in for a few hours, you won't be disapointed (for a while at least).
