Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel
Review by Prism dude
"What a Waste... Avoid at all costs"
The second Yu-Gi-Oh game for the GBA is released..... and they have a long way to go...
Controls: 10/10
The only good part about this game is its Easy to use controls. A button selects... B cancels... thats more or less it. It works quite well...
Game Play: 3/10
This is the most unreliable part of the game... some of the official rules are changed... some moves that are illegal it will let you use. And some moves that would normally fine the game won\'t let you do... Also since Yu-gi-oh is not a very complex card game to begin with.. there isn\'t much to hold your intrest. If you are a die hard Yu-gi-oh Fan then you\'ll love it... but for everyone else just stay far away... you aren\'t missing anything.
Graphics: 4/10
how good can a card games graphics be? the world map is alright... but its just alot of still images and text... also why are there 0 card battle animations? you see to cards fly up to each other and one vanishs... WOW.... also Konami should be stoned to death for there editing... the \'\'Spirit Board\'\' was originally a Wuji (sp?) board and instead of trying to get the \'\'ultimate spirit message\'\' (ughh) you were trying to get the \'\'death message\'\' which in legends and myths killed whoever got it... (you use it on your opponent obiously\'\'
Also alot of the cards names are changed from there Original names... and The \'\'Shadow Realm\'\' is in fully effect... along with heavy censoring on some of the more
\'\'showing\'\' cards Along with some really stupid picture edits don\'t help either.
Story: 0/10
what story? your in a tournament and your trying to be the best \'\'whoop\'\'.. also all the references to the \'\'Death games\'\' are mysteriously covered up... along with the references of some of the later people trying to \'\'kill\'\' you
Challenge: Really easy to Cheating A.I.
Early on the computer is so easy that your dog could win... then all of a sudden around half way some of the people, with the same cards, start drawing the exact right card right when they are gonna lose... its unbelivably annoying... you can have max life points and they have 300... and they can turn the tables and win.... so basically it boils down to... try, reset, try, reset, try, reset until you get a good first hand... this gets old VERY fast...
Sound: 5/10
nothing out of the ordinary here... beeps, and boops... not much else
Music: 1/10
The music is so horrible in both the english and japanese versions you will be tempted to either turn the sound off or.. if your volumes broken poke out both your eardrums.
if you insist on playing this game then turn down the volume all the way and pop in some Linkin Park or Audioslave
Replayability: 3/10
When you\'ve got over 1,000 cards to choice from, youd think there would be some replay wouldn\'t you? well unless your a die hard Yu-gi-oh fan, that likes the crappy english dub, then mabye youll play it awhile you beat it, But for everyone else chances are you will get bored before you even get near finishing it.
Buy or Rent?: STAY FAR AWAY
instead of buying this lousy excuse for a game go buy some fansubbed dvds of Yu-gi-oh from somewhere and find out what your missing.
Final Verdict:
another lousy anime game, its cheaper then the card game, but there both a rip off... mabye the next one will be worth buying if they stop the horrible censoring and add rpg like gameplay... mabye
