SpongeBob SquarePants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman
Review by Mr Potter
"A great game..."
STORY: 8/10
SpongeBob is taking Gary for a walk. Gary smells Kelp Nip and runs away. SpongeBob chases Gary to a treasure chest. The treasure chest opens, revealing another treasure chest. That treasure chest opens to reveal yet another treasure chest. In the final chest, there is a bottle. It opens, and the Flying Dutchman comes out. SpongeBob decides that he thinks the Dutchman is a genie, and asks for a wish. The Dutchman refuses, until SpongeBob finally convinces him. The Dutchman tells SpongeBob that he will give him a wish if SpongeBob finds his 10 missing treasures. So there\'s the story...
GRAPHICS: 9/10
The graphics are great. Everything is clear. The graphics aren\'t fuzzy or anything. And a wide variety of colors are used in the game.
GAMEPLAY: 9/10
SpongeBob can walk, run, float, jump, etc. There are a few types of bubbles that you will use in the game. Each bubble does something different. They are Normal, Float, Bounce, and Strong. The enemies are various sea creatures, some that can be hurt and others that can\'t, with the most common enemy being jellyfish. The third level of each section of the game is a little break from the treasure hunt to use an item given to you by another character. Successfully completing the level will let you keep the given item. The bad part that keeps the gameplay from getting a 10 is the fact that it runs on passwords, so you need to write down the password for levels and such instead of being able to save your game in a save file. There are doubloons scattered throughout the level that were also lost by the Dutchman. To get 100% on a level, you must clear the level with all the doubloons. The final level on every section of the game is a boss that you need to fight.
SOUND: 9/10
The sounds are great. The background music is good, and so is the SFX. Most actions have a sound to go with it. The sounds won\'t disappoint you.
LENGTH: 5/10
Though the game is great, it\'s not too long. There are 22 or 23 levels in the game, and the levels aren\'t really too long. So it won\'t take very long to clear the game.
OVERALL: 9/10
The graphics are a 9, the sound is a 9, the gameplay is a 9, the story is almost a 9... This game deserves a 9 for good sound, good graphics, good gameplay and a good story.
