Shining Soul
Review by Sanyo
"This game needs a little more "Soul""
Shining Soul is a Role playing game where you walk around killing monsters to make yourself stronger, so you can kill even more monsters.
Story: 3/10
Not much story to this game, basically you must kill the demon monsters in each world, if you fail to succeed in killing all the master demon’s the world will become doomed. You take the role of the legendary “light” warrior who was destined to save the world.
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics in this game are nothing that you will be amazed by, although the graphics are not bad either. The fighting scenes get repetitive after a while and can get boring if you’re playing for a long time straight. Some parts of the game do look pretty good however, and sometimes you will just think that the animators could have made new sprites for monsters instead of using the same old ones, with a different color scheme over and over.
Sound: 8/10
The sound in this game is not that bad, the music changes enough that it doesn’t get boring and the sound effects sound like they should. Even though the sounds sometimes change, that does not mean that it doesn’t get annoying after three or four hours of play.
Controls: 6/10
The controls in this game are pretty simple and easy to master. Problems most people have with the controls are that it’s hard to get your character to face in a certain direction.
Most of the time you are pressing the a button, to pick up/kill things, and I’m pretty sure that my thumb has a blister on it now, since I had to press the A button so many times.
Game play: 7/10
The game play was good; you can play this game for a long time before getting bored of it. The only problem I had with the game play is that you seem to constantly be having to replay the same levels over and over again. A very good point is that the game is very random meaning that, you can keep restarting the game over and over again and still come up with a completely different character each time, so the replay of this game is very high.
Final Score: 6/10
The game is good, but not great. If you have the option of buying or renting this game, I would suggest you rent it, chances are if you play the game a lot when you have it, you’ll probably not want to buy it after. In summary, this game had potential but just didn’t make the best game list.
