"Bwing Haa! Waa! Boh! Yoshi!"

Yoshi's Island is an excellent remake of the original. In my opinion, this is better than the Super Nintendo version. Read on in this review.

Story
One day, two little baby boys were born (Mario and Luigi). Both were in a bag held onto from a storks beak one early dawn. In the dark, a huge scream came. Kamek the witch screamed ''The babies are mine!'' She tried to kidnap both, but only snatched one. The stork lost control of the other one, and it fell down into the sea.

One day, Yoshi was taking a walk. The baby fell on his back. Then, a map fell onto his head. He took a peak at it, and went to the other Yoshis, and showed him Baby Mario, and talked about what happened, and what to do.

Kamek on the other hand, was very mad that she only snatched one baby. She sent out her Toadies to get Mario.

Graphics: 10/10
They look just like the Super Nintendo version, but these are better. The graphics are colorful and easy to see. The Yoshis were desgined well too, as well as enemies, and the layouts of some levels.

Gameplay: 10/10
Slightly improved over the original. Now, when you beat the game, you get to play 6 new levels. So you go through 60 levels. You can digest some enemies to make eggs, to through at enemies to knock them out. Then, at the end of each level, they total up your score, which depends on how many stars you have left, how many red coins and flowers you collected.

Now, instead of getting a 100 on each level to unlock a mini-game and an extra level, Nintendo added a score total for the world, and now you must get a certain score to unlock those mini-games and extra levels. Besides the bonus games, there are in-level mini-games, where you can win a valueable item.

And Just like Super Mario Advance 1 and 2, Nintendo added the Mario Brothers Arcade in this game.

Sound Effects: 10/10
Nintendo also added some new sound effects in this game. Now, Yoshi makes sounds when he jumps, throws eggs, ground pounds, and that kind of stuff, and Yoshi does sound good. For the other sound effects, they are decent too, such as seed spitting, and Mario crying (no offense).

Music: 10/10
The music is also good in this game. The music of beating a level sounds awesome, and on the ''Choose a Game'' screen. For the level music, they don't sound bad either. Battling bosses have good music too.

Replayability: 10/10
It's fun playing this game again! When you beat the game, you can try replaying this game to beat the game 100%. Also, you can start a new file to get better at this game. Then, you can explore for hidden areas in the level too.

Mario Brothers Arcade

Graphics: 10/10
The graphics have been much improved over the original. The graphics in this game are colorful and easy to see, and Mario looks good. The enemies and backgrounds have a nice design too.

Gameplay: 8/10
This is pretty much straightforward gameplay. To defeat an enemy, you must get below the ledge they're on, then knock them over by hitting them under the ledge they're on, then get on the ledge and kick him into the water. To beat the phase, you must defeat all the *main* enemies in that phase. Some of the phases are Bonus Games, where you can get an extra life by collecting all the coins at the Bonus Game.

Also, there is a multiplayer option in this game, where you need a GameBoy Advance Link Cable and Super Mario Advance 1, 2, this game, or 4. You can choose to play cooperative play in Classic Mode, where you play the phases together. Or face off in Battle Mode, where you must collect 5 coins to win. When playing 2 Player Battle Mode, there is a Garbage Can, where you can go in and grab in item. To gain coins, you must defeat enemies, and coins will come out of the pipe for each enemy defeated. Or on 3-4 player Battle Mode, there is no Garbage Can, where you just collect the coins. You can have 2-4 players in either Classic or Battle Mode.

Sound Effects: 10/10
The sound effects are good in this game. Mario sounds good, and defeating an enemy, and collecting a coin sound good, while others sound good too.

Music: 9/10
The music is good too. I love the Bonus Game music, it sounds really good. Also, the music in the phases sound good too. The beginning of the phase isn't bad either.

Replayability: 6/10
It may get boring playing this game again, because if you get game over on a really high phase, you'll have to start from scratch from Phase 1. Or, you can replay this to improve your phase and score.

Rent or Buy?
Buy this game, where there's much to do. This game is fun to try and complete 100% too.

Overall:
Mario Brothers: 9/10
Yoshi's Island: 10/10
