Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Review by Darkness 000
"It's one HUGE "pocket size" obstacle course"
Another congratulations to Ubi Soft and all the people behind Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time...Man, I'm starting to love the Prince of Persia series!
Comparing Prince of Persia for the next generation consoles and the Game boy Advance version is like comparing an orange to a mandarin. Its practically the same game but with side scrolling fun. Like the consoles, you take the role of a prince who must redo his own mistakes. Time control isn't as fun to play around with in this pocket version, but best thing about this one is the speed you maneuver from obstacles. It looks like a simplistic game but its a blast and a burst of crazy speed jumping and swinging. Like the Xbox, PlayStation 2 and GameCube versions, this game is focused mainly on the obstacles that you must use to reach your destination. Collecting sand to restore the sand meter from dead enemies stabbing their corpses is in this one as well. The story is told through scenes and text...not my type of story telling and one thing I found hilarious is that you get the dagger of time 5 seconds in the beginning of the game where as the console versions takes about an hour, ha ha! throughout the game though, you don't only control the Prince, but also the Princess who is an archer, and sometimes you play the Prince but have the Princess follow you.
Because Prince of Persia was famously known for its incredibly innovative type of combat, this game is no exception. There are moves you acquire though scrolls you pick, there is no chance that you will not see it. Even though this game may look simple, it's not.
As far as visuals go on the Game boy Advance, these graphics aren't as good as they can be. Just like Prince of Persia for the consoles, graphics aren't a big shocker, but the gameplay is all that matters, graphics are just an icing on a cake. The sounds and music are basically the same as the other versions, the mixes of Egyptian music and other sound effects from attacks all playing though the tiny Game boy Advance sound hole.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the Game boy Advance is very similar to the other versions, therefore you can compare them. The Xbox version is the best version for this game, but if you only have a Game boy, you must pick it up. It is a fun time consuming game!
