Bruce Lee: Return of the Legend
Review by buffyonPS2
"Outstanding"
After getting my GBA, I completed my first game and brought this. I got the controls to my liking as they include kick and punch far from each other. I basically got on.
I found the fighting engine superb! You can land many combos, weapons, twists, turns ANYTHING on the enemy to pummel them into the ground! The enemie's hunt in packs, but a quick slip of the L button and you have a high, low and medium block stance. ALL AT THE SAME TIME! WOW! So ten enemies can fight you and hold L and you just snap your fists around, blocking their moves without ducking, jumping or even making a fuss!
Graphics: 9/10
The smooth graphics are making characters different. You can actually SPOT Bruce. The backgrounds look amazing, but sometimes they repeat. You get posters, litter, the moon, curtains and they all are recognizable!
Gameplay: 7/10
You fight endless men. However, this game isn't 'BRUCE CRUSH GRRR!!', you do stealth missions where you hide in shadows and nooks! Mission objectives where you find keys, reach destinations, fight in a time limit, rescue prisoners AND have stealth! The problem is, it sometimes has a noticeable repeat of objectives and levels you just want to shoot yourself in the mouth! The weapons you receive are from bo staffs, darts and nunchakus! The most stressful part I found is that a, you cannot block with weapons and b, you are on the floor in fights just as you get up. I'm not saying they should help you up pr anything, but your lifebar is quite small and you can't raise to your feet without being kicked down again.
Sound: 10/10
Music booming from the speakers! The dying grunts of men, gunshots, fisticuffs, box breaking, door smashing, jumping swiftly, exclamation. It's all here! They fighting noises sometimes repeat and men just yell 'Ere' when they see you. The black me say 'Make way' but that is all the noises you get. No witty remarks, just 'Ere!'.
Overall:
BUY, if you love fights, action, a sense of adventure then buy this! Don't think his merchandise has sometimes slipped (!) so there is a reason that you shouldn't buy this. I was desperate for a new game and when I played it, I had the receipt ready for if it was a disappointment. You can also change costumes (they don't show up in the FULLY MOVEMENT CUT SCENES THOUGH!) and unlock normal, directors cut (new ending) and time challenge (like directors cut but you have a time limit to do each level!)
